"After all, it was about trying this place and was very satisfied with it. I tried one of the hearty waffles (with hummus and chickpeas) as I was there for lunch. For the first time I had a hearty waffle and it was excellent. This followed with some crepe for dessert, which was also great."

Finally got around to trying this place and was very pleased with it. I tried one of the savoury waffles (with hummus and chickpeas) as I was there for lunch. First time I've had a savoury waffle and it was excellent. Followed this with some crepe for dessert, which was also great.
