Afternoon Tea @1449 Restaurant, Bar Grill Crowne Plaza

A lovely venue with very polite friendly staff. The afternoon tea was very good value for money and we will be returning.

We've been for afternoon tea many times over the years as it's convenient for meeting up with friends. The staff have always been friendly and attentive but not overly so, which is nice when you're trying to catch up with friends. The afternoon tea contents are fine for us not posh but great value for money with a Groupon deal.

My friends and I have been to Crowne Plaza for afternoon tea several times. While we enjoyed it, we all noticed that it wasn't quite as impressive as in the past. The sandwiches were somewhat uninspiring, and there seemed to be fewer scones and cakes than before. We arrived, but they couldn't find our reservation. I showed them the confirmation email, and the hostess told us they were only serving the festive tea. She then asked the cook if we could still have it at the same price, and we were allowed to. However, when the food arrived, the tea was cold, and overall, I wasn't impressed with it at all. I had much better expectations and was quite disappointed.

very excited, with my friend for afternoon tee (1st time without children for ever) nice hotel welcome to go. the afternoon was very moderate. cheap lunch. when we wanted to pay, they tried to ask us to pay the full price, but I explained I booked in advance and that was quickly corrected. even if we needed more tee, there was no one around, but to the luck found someone who just added more boiling water.

However, our initial experience with the service was not ideal. When I went to check in, there was no reservation under my name, despite having an email confirmation with the date and time of my booking. They explained that it hadn’t been entered into their system, so there is definitely room for improvement in their organization. Fortunately, the restaurant was completely empty, and they were able to accommodate us. I can’t help but wonder what they would have done if they had been fully booked—would they have turned us away?
