"We were advised this restaurant/hotel is under new ownership. We were only visiting for food. We managed to get a table on arrival. It's a very average environment and service is poor sadly. Only one girl working the bar. There's no table service which isn't a problem. However things need improved this being the case. The menu didn't have a lot of choice really. No fish other than scampie in a fishing village, no macaroni etc. The chilli was served with indian yellow basmati rice which was absolutely bizarre, it should be serve with white long grain rice. We ordered scampie and a steak pie. Scampie was £13.50 and Steak pie more. Portions were very small for that price, hardly any chips at all. I'm not a big eater and was still hungry after I finished mine which never happens. Food tasted nice, no complaints at all re the flavor and quality of cooking. Another annoying problem was the lack of service/common sense. We, along with other tables were served our food, however no cutlery or salt n pepper etc on the table. We had to wait for cutlery to be brought AFTER we received our food. We asked for salt, vinegar and ketchup. We were given 2 TINY satchets of salt"

Connor the busiest man in Ullapool. A warm welcome a great breakfast and a bar with a welcoming atmosphere you could not ask for more.

We were only in the pub, but the pub was great. The atmosphere was ok, but the service was fantastic and the food was great. We had several dishes and they were all very tasteful.

We have just had our evening meal here we had a warm welcome, the 2 dogs with us also got a treat. The waitress was attentive and the food all came out together, was nice and hot and more importantly was lovely. I would eat here again

Very friendly helpful landlord who has recently taken on this lovely local pub and hotel . He acknowledged that it need done serious investment to improve its slightly tatty run down feel but, that said , the rooms we’re comfortable and everything worked. The bar is packed on a Saturday night which meant a slightly noisy night with revellers spilling out and partying on the street til turf early hours

Stayed for 1 night with friends on way around NC500. First impressions were not great, hotel does need some TLC but the staff Connor and Logan were exceptional, even set us up in a separate bar to watch the football that night, outstanding guys and for that reason I would definitely go back to the hotel just to meet up with them again. A credit to the place. Food was also good, the bar area is traditional and cosy and busy all night. Don't be put off by other reviews, it's what you make of it yourself, the guys at the Argyll will look after you well.

Outside appearance of hotel and care of public areas (reception, stairs, carpark etc) would be scored as a 0 dirty, uncared for and a health hazard (old mattresses piled on fire escape and flat roof). We would have turned round and walked back out except everywhere else was full and we’d paid in advance. Room was a bit tired with stains on carpet and comfy chairs, but bed was very comfy with very clean cotton bedding. Clean, fluffy bath towels too. On the top floor and the view from 2 large windows of the loch was amazing! Breakfast was acceptable but not great. Staff were lovely. If you can close your eyes to the public areas of the hotel and just gaze at the view and want a good nights sle...

This hotel needs a complete gut out and rebuild. There is a pervading odour of stale smoke from years of visitors. An attempt has been made too redecorate but it is just cosmetic. The walls are paper thin, snoring very audible, and people spilling out into that street from the bar. Smoke drifts up to open windows in the bedrooms. Breakfast is in a different hotel on the seafront. I didn’t eat there, but was alarmed to see the barman, no hands washed, opening a frozen pizza from packaging and putting it in an oven under the bar. The nightly rate was ridiculous considering the state of the place. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the linen fresh. I couldn’t wait to depart. Advice…....

Although they're not taking bookings, and won't accept randoms off the street ahead of their own in-house guests, *at the moment*, they will try and accommodate you if you're in early enough and having a drink or two before dinner. The food was nicely presented. I opted merely for a couple of share plates which came with a fresh basic wee salad, and I ordered a side of chips (because I'd managed to avoid them for more than a week.... elsewhere... thank goodness). Good choice, the haggis bons bons were tasty, the mushroom tart... similarly, and the chips were perfectly cooked, and came with both chunkies and littlies... the way I like them. Hubby was impressed with his salmon entree and his s...

Myself and my husband dined here on a Saturday night in November with very little choice available in the town due to closures. The whole experience was very similar to your local Spoons'. Nice fireplace gave it a cosy atmosphere. After moving to 2 different tables due to sticky drinks marks we settled down in the corner. Not too busy, maybe 3 other tables and some drinking bar locals. Handed some lovely sticky menus you start to contemplate about staying in the place but we persevered. Good choice on the menu. I had scampi, hubby had burger. No table service so you order and pay at the bar as you go along. Food was surprisingly very tasty and good portion sizes! Waitresses skills were quest...
