"The hotel had a large wedding and when we arrived the bride was shouting and swearing at one of her wedding party and two young children were having a massive melt down, this put me right off the bar area was packed and there was no where we could go other than our roomWe came back down hour later and they had been moved to the outside building and things turned around and the hotel was pleasant and more relaxing with a lovely log fire.We were there for the night and the murder mystery evening which was great fun, we slept really well and weren’t disturbed by the wedding party, we checked out after breakfast and managed to sit in the lovely lounge area till midday and enjoy a few drinks.Overhaul a nice hotel they can’t change how other guests behave which is a shame for them, this is why I feel they should receive a good review as they did all you would expect to give us a nice evening."

The service and food is of the highest standard. The restaurant setting overlooking the gardens is very relaxing

I am a pretty massive fan of Hand Picked hotels and really was looking forward to afternoon tea at Audley Lodge. It's too close to home for a hotel break.

Had a fantastic afternoon tea at Audleys Wood, food was amazing, and the tea selection available was wonderful too. Service as always was second to none. Highly recommended.

Popped in the breakfast, and boy was it good, full English breakfast was excellent, I don’t know how they do it but it is just the right amount of food, I think the chef is a mind reader. Thanks for a great start to the week.

Disappointing....... stayed three nights....... went to this restaurant on the first night..... ate out after that....... average food..... not well presented ....... we both had the pie ...... probably one of the blandest I have had for a long time my colleague agreed ........ service nothing special...... would not recommend...

I've always been a little underwhelmed by restaurants in Hotels apart from the odd one or two. The Goring, in London having a Michelin Star makes in one of the better ones, so having been taken to the Audleys Wood for a birthday treat by my girlfriend, I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the cuisine in the Conservatory Restaurant.

I went recently for afternoon tea with some friends for a birthday. The tea itself was very good with a good selection of cakes etc but the service was very poor. We were given our tea pots etc then I had to ask for the food, I then had to ask for the bill and I then had to ask to pay the bill. Each time I had to get up and find someone. Very friendly but just not very attentive.

Mentioned over the phone it was our anniversary weekend and cheekily hinted at the possibility of an upgrade and did they ever deliver we got the bridal suite. Arrived amidst a wedding function but still received excellent hospitality and were made to feel very welcome by the manager. Can not fault anything, good food, good service and the kind of welcome and hospitality by all staff that is second to none.

"Visited today for lunch and probably wouldn't rush back although I'm aware there's recently been a change in management so maybe a few teething troubles. Messaged via their Facebook page to book a table, no response. Never was a problem in the past. The pub was very cold with no heating at all so we had to keep our coats on. Several tables near us commented the same and all sat with coats on. The coffee machine was out of order so only instant available, which wasn't pleasant. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our food order, in the end I went and found someone. Two of us wanted the steak ale pie. Only then were we told it wasn't available. The chap said we should've been told when we were given the menus, well it was him that gave them to us! With that he said he'd give us a few minutes to choose something else and walked away. He didn't come back so I had to go and ask to place our order again. At no point did anyone ask if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a requirement these days? The food was really good, credit to the chef; it was well cooked, well presented, large portions and very tasty. We did notice that two other tables waited a very long time for their food and had to chase it up, so glad we ordered when we did. We would have stayed longer and had a dessert but it was so cold we couldn't relax and enjoy it. We were next to radiator and we did ask one of the waiters if it was possible to turn it on and he said he'd see what he could do, which was nothing as it remained stone cold! When our plates were taken we asked for the bill, but it didn't arrive. Eventually a young lady arrived with the card machine and asked us to pay, which we said we'd be delighted to do once we received our bill! When we left we walked past 3 different members of staff, all of whom had waited on our table at some point during our visit. Not one of them made an effort to say thank you or goodbye. There was no warm ambiance or friendly feeling in the pub, it felt cold (literally) and unwelcoming. I also felt that a couple of members of staff waiting on tables looked rather scruffy, none of them wore a logo'd t-shirt which I feel the staff should do as they're representing the pub or brewery. It was difficult to distinguish the staff from the customers!"
