"This is a lovely old chateau set in pretty grounds in the countryside, away from it all. There is a nice long forest walk nearby, but it is mosquito heaven. We have stayed here a couple of times before as it is a dog-friendly hotel and we had our 2 terriers with us, so we knew what to expect, but this hotel (and restaurant) is not for the faint-hearted nor anyone travelling on a budget. Nothing here is inexpensive, though quality is high.We had a prestige room on 1st floor ... this is important as there is no elevator. Our room (Louis XI) was interesting in many ways (not all good).Bed was a comfortable old 4-poster... not large but ok for 2.Pillows were not terrible, but we were glad to have our own pillows with us for our 10 day road trip from Bordeaux-Cologne and back. The gold bath, basin, toilet and bidet were well over the top ... Donald Trump would love them. There was no shower, just a hand-held in the tub ... not very useful or convenient. No aircon so we were pleased that the June weather is a bit cooler than normal this year. Having windows on both sides helped to have some breeze through the room, as it was warm during the night. There are all the needed amenities in the room that one would expect from a Relais and Chateaux Hotel, including a Nespresso coffee machine, however the room is getting a bit old and tired and could do with some refurb and update.Restaurant is excellent, terrific food with a large wine list ... Their great sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful and made selection easier. Food is traditional French.Service in all areas of the hotel was excellent ... staff are friendly, helpful and professional.TIP: Ask for a room with a shower, and aircon in the warmer months.TIP: If using a GPS to find the hotel put in Bort l'Etang rather than Lezoux"

The restaurant locates on the ground floor of the tower. We enjoyed Middle Age environment with fireplace. My wife ordered 'Menu du Gourmet', and I selected a la carte. All are exquisite and we are satisfied.

A real michelin star restaurant i would love to enjoy every day. it was already a few weeks ago, so cannot remember the whole menu, but we surely tried the snail dish and it was really nice. Can recommend to any gourmet.

We came on a warm summer evening and ate outdoors. The food and wine were truly excellent. Strangely, the service, though warm and friendly, was not well-coordinated for a restaurant of this caliber. We didn't mind terribly because the environment was so pleasant and the view so exceptional.

When thinking of a hotel chateau, this is how it is. Magnificent ground, beautifully appointed public rooms and accommodations. Excellent restaurant and service. I will definitely come back. However if you are handicapped this is not for you as there is no elevator and there are many narrow steps To be climbed depending on the floor of your room.

We used the MAP option during our 2 night stay and were very happy with the deal. Dinners, with wine, and breakfasts. Meal selections included an excellent foie presentation, boar, hare/rabbit, grouse, excellent desserts and outstanding cheese cart. The service in the restaurant was excellent. The only limitation was that tables are a bit close together and the seating is less than lush.

Very good food when they don't overbook. They had so many people booked two nights in a row that the food was sophomoric and it must have been prepared by the sous-chef to the sous chef. I ate there another night during the week and the chef prepared amazing food - so don't go on a weekend as they can't keep it to a proper level of dinners to stay special. Don't bother staying at the Chateau - the staff are wonderful, but the management ridiculous.

During our 4 days stay, we dined 3 evenings in the 1-star Michelin restaurant of the chateau. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations in each of the evenings due to poor cooking techniques, as we had to send the over cooked meat back at two occasions, service issues when the capacity was full and the limited menu. We tried almost everything in the menu, as even a la carte menu does not offer anything additional. It is a nice location, beautiful gardens however Michelin standard requires immaculate cooking skills.

We stayed 5 days at Codignat, it was supposed to be the highlight of our vacation. Our dinner the first evening was a disaster. We ordered langoustines, they were served icecold, being poached and with the intestins still inside. Tasteless. The veal could not make it right, and the desserts were nothing special either. Wrong wine was being served, service was 'epouvantable'. Our suite 'Myrtilles' had several deficiencies. Decoration is from previous century. TV, airco, wifi and hairdryer don't work properly. There is a pond nearby, so don't forget to bring products against mosquito bites. How this place can be part of Relais & Chateaux is a mystery. Although we must admit that the setting an...

This place delivers what it says on the tin.Charming chateau set in beautiful grounds. Our room was lovely although the decor - tromp l'oiel walls were perhaps a little too much.Staff were friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely heated pool and pavilion where we had a light lunch and nice bottle of wine.Dinner on the terrace was superb, although I had to request a refill of my water on 3 separate occasions - the bottle was some distance away. And they forgot to serve one drinkThe sommelier selected excellent wines which matched our food selections perfectly. The chicken my wife selected was sensational and I would recommend it.Oh, the fruit bread served with the meal was just Soooooooo tasty...

"They looked here by accident, seeing a commercial sign on the way to Oberge de la Forge. When we finally found the parking lot and walked up to Oberg's doors, it was a bit of a calorie of labels confirming the status of this place. There's a hyd Michelen here, starting with 2013 and running. And the Association of Rectors of France, and the Culinary Academy, and a whole bunch of slightly less relevant but still prestigious publications. In anticipation, the dear, but the exquisite dinner went to the hall, where the host met us very nicely and put us in a pretty broad table. We've already outcasted such comfortable and simple tables in France. You usually squeeze your elbows so you don't get off the edge, and then another couple could settle down. We were further expressed (namely speaking, not proposed) today ' s menu. Naturally, at the beginning, miz an bush, who, like the brackets of the list, then snacks from the spark with a mollusc and slices of the ridge. The hottest choice was either a lamb sedlo or a calf. We preferred the first option. A glass of wine was put on the hot side of each or two, that's the same two glasses, but in the same vial. For dessert, they wanted to give a crem-brule at first, but at the request they replaced a chocolate musse with a ball of ice cream. And at the end of two cups of coffee, also on the menu of the day. To say it was delicious, it just means not to say anything. A great and very creative combination of all ingredients in general, which have formed an amazing delicious fireworks of each dish. The servous is that it was a shame to destroy it. The speed of the service has actually hit. Five minutes between the changes. And when the bill came, I literally went into the staurus. No exaggeration and fiction. This whole party of taste has gone for two in 33! Two more left for tea. Michlenov's restaurant, exclusive products, creative dishes from the chef and that price. I couldn't drive for another hour. I had to walk among fields and cows to get my emotions cleaned up. We'll have to recommend this restaurant to the travellers for all the resources. It's a miracle!"
