"Das Essen hier war wirklich sehr gut. Die Atmosphäre ist etwad aufgeregt und laut und auch die Kellner wirken teilweise etwas konfus. Der Service an sich war sehr freundlich, es gab nur keine richtige (oder zumindest für uns nicht ersichtliche) Einteilung der kellern auf die tische, dadurch wusste man nicht so recht, wen man ansprechen sollte. Ansonsten würden wir hier aber trotzdem jederzeit wieder hingehen und das Restaurant auch auf jeden fall weiterempfehlen!"

"Wir wollten am Abend zu zweit in dieser Lokalität essen.Als wir das Lokal betreten haben schenkte man uns keine Aufmerksamkeit, 30 min vergingen bis der ich glaube Inhaber zu uns kam und uns frech fragte ob wir gerade eben gekommen sind, obwohl er uns vorher bereits mehrmals gesehen hat und sogar den Tisch neben uns bedient hat.Daraufhin haben wir ihm gesagt das wir bereits über eine halbe Stunde warten und ob das immer so sei bei ihm. Er wurde äusserst unhöflich und sagt: "bast ihr könnts gehn".So etwas unfreundliches habe ich noch nie erlebt.Mein Tipp an alle die zügig und vor allem etwas Essen möchten sucht euch etwas anderes.Dieser Wirt hat seine Gäste anscheinend nicht nötig!!!!!"

"I travelled from one country to another by plane - from Denmark to Austria. I travelled from one city to another by train - from Vienna to Krems an der Donau. I travelled from one small town to another by boat - from Stein to Melk. I travelled from the riverbank to the Melk Abbey on my two tired feet. All because I had read about the special patented Kolomanitorte developed and served in Stiftsrestaurant Melk. Yes, I am a cake afficionado who travels partly according to the pastries and other sweets the destinations offer.So I was happy when I finally reached Stiftsrestaurant Melk and saw photos of the cake of my Austrian dreams on every table of the restaurant. When the waiter came I could tell him right away that I was ready to order: "I would like to have the Kolomanitorte and a cup of coffee." "Oh, the torte is sold out," he replied calmly as if it could be of no importance. "Seriously?!" Well, yes, seriously! There was no Kolomanitorte with elderberry jam! I was about to panic; my travels had been for nothing! I felt betrayed and gravely dissapointed.The waiter was still totally calm and suggested I tried - what I think was called - the Benediktinertorte instead. I know myself well enough to know that a piece of cake can soothe my nerves, and this cake certainly did. It was delicious and all was well. Thanks to the calm waiter, the tasty walnutty Benedictine cake and the glorious blue sky above the spectacular abbey. Scandal avoided. Lovely experience taken in."

"We had dinner here on our first night in Melk. My wife and I started with cream of asparagus soup. It was pretty thin and watery but tasty. We both had the breaded lamb with vegetables which was good but somewhat dry. I also had the salad bar. It was excellent and probably the best item on the menu. You don't get many salads with a variety of vegetables in Europe so this was a real treat! We had a creme brulee for dessert and it was very good. The service was very good and the outdoor dining was great."

"Visited with a family of four and was able to sit outside under the awning. It was a perfect day so it was perfect for an al fresco brunch. The food was good. Highly recommend the Vital toast (think grilled cheese with veggies) and ham...and cheese toast w/ fried egg (egg was perfectly cooked). The Margherita pizza looked good but taste was average at best. Only issues were that the breakfast menu was only in German (the lunch/dinner menu in in German and English) and we ordered toast that never came but didn’t see that it was on the bill until after it was paid. The staff’s response when we brought it to their attention was that they were sorry but did not have any way to fix the situation."
