"This is a gem in terms of quality. The food, service, drinks and decor everything that makes for an enjoyable night out. Service staff were really pleasant and professional. Genuinely everyone seemed happy to be there and added to the experience with recommendations. Food genuinely one of the nicest meals that I have had. Quality of ingredients, presentation and cooking was obvious and this exceeded my expectations which were already high after hearing other positive comments. Setting/decor a warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated setting for Christmas with atmospheric music playing in the background. Will definitely return and happy to recommend to others."

Food was excellent. Service a bit slow. Check your bill before leaving. I was charged £4.50 for roast potatoes with lamb. Discovered when I got home that they were included in price

I love the Coq Bull restaurant. Its bright and airy with lovely staff. Always relaxed easy atmosphere with food as good as any fancy restaurant. We had salmon main with apple blackberry crumble. Both lovely. We will be back. Visualizza piatti

Another delightful lunch visit to Coq Bull! Ultra courteous service throughout our visit. Excellent variety on menu . . . it really was difficult to make a final choice! Food was absolutely delicious. We sat outside on the covered patio it was simply beautiful. Clandeboye Lodge is a real gem.

Each year in early December we treat ourselves to a lovely Sunday lunch here. The staff were very welcoming and gave a very good service to a packed dining room without being obtrusive. As usual the food choices were excellent and the meal throughout was delicious. Surely we will find an excuse to come again before next December rolls in.

6 of us had Sunday lunch. We could not fault the food or the welcoming staff. The menu had something for everyone and we had starters of the prawns and bread selection. Mains were Sunday roast beef special, fish cakes and battered fish, all lovely. Desserts too were excellent. We loved the atmosphere and we got just the right level of attention from staff. Would definitely recommend and would return. Visualizza piatti

Nice setting. Good and friendly staff. Used to be very reliable food ways, but like most places, the costs have risen. Maybe too high as the quality has not. Nothing exciting on the menu. Fish is fish. Chicken is chicken. The steak was small, thin and tough. The sides were expensive for the amount given. Ordered cocktails, but they didn’t have the kick and a small choice. Could do with a mixologist of a good cocktail book. Setting and staff def help, but it’s about the product and it’s not exciting.

It’s unusual these days for a restaurant to continue trading (in general) with consistently good service, standards, food quality and ambience. I’ve been dining here a few times a year for several years. I always have a great experience, and the standards have never slipped. The welcome is warm, the wines well priced, the menu varied (but you can request substitutions and the odd item that’s no longer on the menu) and the decor still looks great. Every time I visit I fall in love with a new dish. Tonight I fell in love with the coconut panna cotta! Would highly recommend!

"Tl;dr this chef and this team are on their way to a Michelin star, so get a reservation while you can. We visited here Saturday 29, where we enjoyed the tasting menu by current chef John Hollywood. Their tasting menu is averagely priced, comparable to Dublin’s Bastible, with 6 courses actual, and plenty of wine. Aside from the setup, nothing else is average. The staff at Boat House are second to none. The atmosphere is similar to Hof van Cleve, with chirpy, witty staff happily serving customers and following the mood of the table. Their sommelier and wine pairing is particularly special, with each bottle subverting the trend, unexpected, but without compromising on quality (see: Bastible cannot figure out wine). Their sommelier is a wine nerd who’s happy to go into as much depth as you want, but you feed off the passion between courses, which is a really great dynamic between the staff and the table this is rare, usually only achieved at top star restaurants. I’ve never found this in the island of Ireland. The food itself is the perfect mix of foraged from land and sea, each dish testing and surprising you, but with some classics mixed in (beef Barolo your reward for trusting the chef). On the whole, the menu seems designed to subvert comfort you in equal measure, and succeeds with every course. You won’t find the same level of experimentation from many of the Italian tasting menus on the circuit, but that comes with the assurances of consistent quality and a journey that’ll never let you down, where subversive wine pairings inject a level of exciting chaos without risking the food. Between the atmosphere, staff, and chemistry at the table in the kitchen, a trip to Boat House can be held in the same regard as some of the world’s top Michelin star restaurants. They’re on the way. They have the ingredients, whether you know it or not. Better start those birthday reservations now."
