"Situated right not he place de l'Horloge in the centre of Avignon, one might easily think this to be another tourist trap. But then you have to climb up the narrow, steep staircase in order to arrive at this place - with nothing but a sign and a small menu indicating it from the outside. When we visited, quite some of the other guests were greeted in a way that indicated them to be frequent guests and as usual, a faithful, local clientele tells you a lot about the place. The menu is simple - three different salads, a choice of different couscous compositions, traditional tajine with either vegetables, chicken or lamb and a few other, typical dishes, such as brick à l'oeuf. We both went for a chicken tajine, me with almonds, my daughter with lemons, and loved the rich taste of the dish as well as the crispy skin and tender flesh of the chicken. A traditional mint tea perfectly terminated this dinner. The waiter was very friendly and we left paying just about 30 € for the both of us - very good value for money, considering you're in the bubbling centre of Avignon! To be repeated!!!"

Very attentive staff. A quick salade nicoise and a carafe of rose. Great salad, OK rose. Quite busy, which usually tells you something - if the locals eat there ...

Love this place! Great food, friendly staff. We had a very enjoyable dinner with a table overlooking Place de l'Horloge. Tiny, but charming. Up a flight of narrow stairs so perhaps not for the infirm or elderly.

Had supper here last week as we fancied something a bit different. The lamb tagine was very tasty and a good portion. The service was a bit on the slow side but we had plenty of time so it was not a problem for us.

A great restaurant in the centre of the town square, our waiter Azzedine was so helpful in selecting from the menu deciding on the lamb shank tagine with prunes orange & apricots. So nice ,so different flavours, highly recommended Visualizza piatti

This is the best couscous I have tasted outside of paris. The taste is superb and the setting with the hotel de ville in the background wonderful. Service may be a little slow but sit back and enjoy the experience. The Tunisian staff are very pleasant and I would recommend it.

...but I would really not bother with this one. The kitchen is in an alleyway behind the restaurant, the menu limited to couscous and similar, and if that's what you want there are many better places. Pretty rubbish service. Toughish steaks. Average wine. Really better to go elsewhere.

We had lunch here after visiting the Palace of the Popes. Ordered salad with roasted chicken, salad with smoked salmon, and roasted lamb leg with couscous. The couscous dish came with generous servings of couscous and lamb and a big bowl of vegetable soup. Great meal!!! The only little problem we had was the lamb's strong aroma kept attracting fly. But, that's something expected for outdoor dining in the summer. Strongly recommend! Visualizza piatti

I was a bit weary as this small couscous and tajines restaurant is on the main street of Avignon. Usually not a good sign for quality food.Well, I was wrong. I had a Merguez couscous, with some extra lamm skillets. All was good and tasty. Usually, if a couscous place wants to save money, you get bad quality meat. It was not the case here, everything was good.So if you want a decent quality couscous, at a reasonnable price, this place is not a bad contender.

Strolling along the streets of Avignon old town the traveler is faced with a multitude of choices when it comes to food. We already had had some French food during our trip, so we decided to be "adventurous" and eat something different - and this is when we came across La Couscousserie de L'Horloge. The menu includes some vegetarian options but also dishes with chicken and lamb. I had initially decided to go with a chicken tagine, but our waiter recommended the lamb tagine - and right he was. The prunes, apricots and oranges mingled nicely with the flavors of cinnamon and cumin, The portions were good sized. The wine recommended - a Moroccan rose - was OK and worked well with our meal, but w...

"I'm a regular here, and I'm not the only one lol! This place is always packed, it's both a locals haunt and a place where well-advised tourists end up. I meet my friends here, I meet my colleagues here, I meet half the town here...And it draws out the locals every evening with good reasons! So, first off: Convenience. Just on the bank of the river, this place has it's own parking.Next, atmosphere: Clean shabby chic orientated decor, open central kitchen, usually pretty crowded, Italian chef.... This place has got the atmosphere where it should be for modern tasty Italian cuisine.Service: populated by hipster and punkette style waiters and waitresses, they might not be warm nor welcoming, but they polite and competent. The service is prompt and the wine suggestions correct.Food: my FAVOURITE part! I love Italian, and I just appreciate a place that does it right so much! Simple, clean, modern and tasty!Their pizzas are beyond a doubt the best in the region, special mention for the Bianca and the Cosi. Their pasta is mouth watering. But I always find the best on their menu to be their dish of the day (for example duck filet with apricots, tuna steak with Italian sauce, roast filet mignon...) and their veal schnitzel. In fact I am a regular to this place almost solely because of their veal schnitzel. Just gorgeous!Oh and their desserts.... Are just delicious, special mention for the raspberry-lemon-white chocolate parfait!Once again, this is not a budget eat-all-you-can low end pizzeria. The prices are midrange. But the cuisine is authentic and impeccable, the setting very pleasant, and it is definitely a place you will come back to after trying it once."
