"I went to this restaurant twice now and both times I wait for an hour to eat. each deserves a second chance so that I visited for the opening, in the hope to have another experience. I don't have that. we had come to the point where we wanted to arrive at 2.30 and not get our food until after 4 was not what we expected. our food finally came, but divided so that we waited longer. the manager gave us free drinks, for which we were grateful, but the server took so long that she brought the manager herself. a server came to ask us if we would like to bill if we had not finished our drinks or foods that makes us feel like going. although the manager originally tried to make our experience right. it was separated from the server that asked us if we wanted to bill. we traveled 2 hours for this restaurant his sad to see that it had not changed. if they want to wait over an hour to eat feel compelled to leave due to more bookings, then they go on."

Currently sitting here and writing this review as we've been waiting for more than an hour and half for our order even though it's not busy at all and fairly empty for a Saturday evening. We keep having to flag the staff down to ask...about our order and remind them we have been waiting. Not a good first time visit and we can't say we'd visit again.

A Great value stand out restaurant strike diner with a vibe that hits you as you walk through the door. The decor and style has clearly taken a lot of attention to detail and you feel catered to and inspired. Could take my laptop or...meet some friends for breakfast or have a meal before a night out . Such a lovely atmosphere with beautiful energy , friendly staff , delicious food and delicious drinks. Family friendly too and a great, fun indulgent place to go eat in this city. Lovely

came here years ago when it first opened and the food was cut. decided to give him a second chance to venture into the reopening, and it is still average. the ruck lachsburger was nice, but nothing special. the service was not great. ordered beverages and foods, but also asked for water, I was told that they do not serve water. they serve mojitos that I suspect contain alcohol, I believe it is therefore a legal requirement that they serve lead water, but even if they do not serve alcohol, which type of place does not serve lead water!? poor customer service!

I went here on a Wednesday evening the place was empty as it was quite late. There was one waitress there and cook in the kitchen. We were seated and were waiting for the waitress to take our order but she was too busy cleaning...so we had to call out and say we are ready to order. We ordered drinks and she carried on cleaning for a while but didn't actually make the drinks. We had to then ask her again can we have our drinks please The food was absolutely amazing! It cannot be faulted however we were expecting the infamous shaped freak of the week' cocktail in the same glass but it just came in a normal glass instead. This place would be great if the service was better because the vibes, mu...

Visited as I’d heard good things, however found staff to be rude and more interested in their phones than serving As we were seated at the back near the kitchen we could see our food and were waiting a while for it to be given...to us, to then see one of the waitress taking pictures of our food before serving us which I found really bazaar. Due to the delay the Mac and cheese was so cold the cheese had hardened and the pasta was rock hard, when I told the waitress this, i was met with an eye roll and then heard the chef shout that there’s no way it could be cold across the entire restaurant The only good this about the visit was the cocktails which are amazing! Apart from this I wouldn’t was...

Got here with my family for a celebration. We waited for a table for 45 minutes when there were empty tables. Once we finally got seated we were left for 20 minutes just to order and when we did we were told that the waiting...time for food is 45 minutes. After just over an hour waiting for our food we ask the waitress how long and she said an extra 15 minutes. At this time we were hungry and frustrated. Finally after an hour and a half the food began to come it was half of the meals (which were practically cold) and had to wait another 10 minutes for the rest of the meals and they left telling us that they ran out of plantain to after we got the meals. The food is good but such small portio...

"I hadn't been here since my mother brought me as a teenager in 1965, when it was the Chalet Suisse. We were welcomed by a waitress seeing us coming and opening the door for us, ushered to a table by the window. We both had a fish dish, myself a crab-stuffed fillet of plaice, my wife a seabass paella with mussels. My plaice was succulently fresh, with a subtly spiced filling and sauce, The new potatoes were perfect. My wife is from a fishing family in Brittany so really knows her fish, and her saffron paella met with unconditional approval. The buckshee bread chunks in a basket already on the table were left, so I could enjoy mopping up the last of the lovely flavour of the juice. After polishing off the little extra pot of sweet potato fries, for dessert we had a special, Eton Mess, and banana cream profiteroles, which we swapped half way through, just gorgeous, and a filter coffee to finish off. With a couple of beers all for a fraction over £50 this was extraordinary value. This was no ordinary pub-chain grub. Every dish had something unusual and special to commend it, whether the spicy crab or the tart passionfruit syrup setting off the usually overwhelmingly sweet Eton Mess. This was proper cooking by someone who really knows their stuff, nicely presented but without fuss. Our fellow diners were all friendly and accomodating in a fairly small space, some engaging in jolly conversation with us. The service was attentive, kind. and unobtrusive. There was music but not overly loud and the atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried. I've heard this place mentioned by others before over the years and very much wish we'd made the effort to visit before now, our wedding anniversary. We will go again for sure, and take others with us too!"

"This is a small, very nice, non-chain coffee shop selling tea, coffee, some savoury sandwiches plus snacks and cakes. (Not to be confused with 'Smoothbean ' which is also in Croydon and also very good, but the two have no connection.)What 's good about it? It 's non-chain, so you 're actually dealing with nice people offering good service, not just wage slaves at the front end of a vast, impersonal corporation. The quality of the tea and coffee is as good as anywhere else. The service is warm, human, friendly and personal. The staff are efficient and helpul but also pleasantly informal. They don 't have a very wide selection of things to eat. However, what they DO have is all very nice and good value, whether you want savoury and healthy or sweet and indulgent. I loved the little 'bakesmiths ' cakes they sell that say 'made by hand in small batches ' on the label. What 's maybe not so good? Well, it 's not in what you 'd call a great location. Plus it 's really small. Upstairs (at street level) there are just two small tables and space for maybe five or six people at most (assuming some don 't mind sitting at the window). Downstairs, there are a chairs and sofas providing room for about eight people, although it 's a bit cramped. All in all, the think to love about Crushed Bean is the tone, the atmosphere, the fact that it 's small, friendly and informal and run by human beings rather than branded corporate drones intent on hitting targets. Go there at a not-too-busy time and you can enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet and know that you 're choosing to support a small, independent coffee shop and not one of the behemoth chains. Bonus good point #1: if you ask for your milk on the side, it comes in a miniature milk bottle. This cute touch should be standard practice but isn 't.Bonus good point #2: They offered me a free tea refill. Nowhere else that I 've been to does this.Bonus good point #3: They are right opposite Cake Box, a wonderful emporium of gloriously unhealthy options."
