"Having been recommended this Inn from locals in the village and not wanting to drive home before a local performance of Peter Pan we thought we’d try out this place. We were so glad we did! This place is GREAT! It’s quirky yet cool. The service super friendly and welcoming, especially Tommy! The fire (and friendly service) made the bar warm and inviting. The beer was excellent, I wholly recommend the ale on tap! A perfect pint IMHO! The food was super delicious, plentiful, well cooked and brilliantly seasoned! I can heartily recommend the burgers and gammon! The price fantastically reasonable and great value, especially in this current climate I even feel the need to mention how clean the toilets were! "

Travelling from Bovey Tracey/ Grantham via Mullacott Park, we found this pub via our AA guide. For us, traditional layout and friendly service. Meals were home cooked and delicious. Served in good time with a smile. Landlord easy with local information and helpful Enjoyed our visit!

Rainy day so thought we would venture to this pub..greeted by the owners who were very welcoming. I decided on the special , crab salad which was a whole crab with bread butter home made coleslaw and salad..delicious! Hubby had ploughman's which had a generous amount of ham 2 cheeses pickles crisps scotch egg bread and butter coleslaw and salad.. he struggled to finish it but forced himself! Pub is dog friendly too, if you have your furry friend with you Visualizza piatti

I love this pub. I have lived permanently in this area for 20 years and have never found better! They normally serve really good, home cooked food, but due to coronavirus, are just doing drinks at the moment. The landlord and landlady are very friendly, cheery and hospitable. They keep a fine cellar and the standard of hygiene is extremely high. This is why I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else for a post-lockdown drink. They practice social distancing and have a huge beer garden.

Lively Friday evening in the pub with a friendly welcome. Thankfully, given the option of food in the quieter dining area. Prompt, efficient service. Straight to mains with the Venison Pie accompanied by mash potatoes, and a selection of veg including cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The pie was huge. Everything cooked perfectly. Grilled Halloumi in Ciabata with coleslaw and fries. Delicious too. Desserts were both Ice Cream Sundaes, one Strawberry, the other Honeycomb Crunch. Both huge. Both lovely.

I spent a glorious month in Shebbear for a woodworking class down the road. I stayed in an apartment across the street from the Devil's Stone Inn, but I bet I spend almost as much time at the pub. Lee, Suzy, and the whole crew at DSI were fabulous! A gracious bunch who makes everyone feel welcome. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and welcoming. The food and drinks were delicious, and on the one summer day in July, the beer garden was stupendous (jk, spent a few evenings out there). If you go, and I hope you do, have an Otter Amber. YUM! And be sure to ask Lucy for the venison pie! Visualizza piatti

We could not have been made to feel more welcome. What a fantastic pub with great owners and friendly locals. We were in the area for a week and first popped in on Saturday afternoon and were amazed to find they were still serving food at 3pm. The food was fairly priced and very generous portions- we were hooked. The pub was busy every time we visited and the beer was fantastic. Very dog friendly, the owners went out of their way to make us feel at home. Open fire, decent beer and food and separate pool area and dining room. We could not have wished for a better ‘local’ for our week away and can’t wait to go back to this lovely village. Thank you.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
