"We spent four nights at this hotel/restaurant and the main criticism was the limited dinner menu . The pork dish was good but you had to pay extra for vegetables and at one meal the new potatoes definitely tasted re-heated. I am sure this restaurant was fine for a one off meal but not for a stay of over two days. Sauces on the food were too plentiful and strong. Puddings were fine as were the breakfasts. I am not sure how a vegetarian would have coped as the options were even more limited. Beds were lovely and comfy in great surroundings and the staff were excellent but a few extra options in plainer food would have made this place somewhere we would come back to."

Furnishings rather worn out. The carpet in particular should be replaced (hard floor is best). The Meavy room is rather dark and the view is of the neighboring room. Only with a lot of imagination can you describe it as a view in the garden. Price performance moderate Rooms: 3 Service: 4 Location: 4 Visualizza piatti

Lovely hotel beautiful grounds. The room was clean comfortable, although not very sound proofed we could hear people talking walking about upstairs. The food was exceptional as was the service. A lovely touch when you check out you get a goodie bag with notepad pen, bottles of water homemade fudge. It definitely deserves more than the 3 it has. Rooms: 4

The menu featured four main dishes, but only three of them were actually available. This was quite disappointing considering we had made a reservation two weeks in advance. It was my partner's birthday meal and we were both looking forward to trying the missing dish. Unfortunately, we were informed that it would not be available just 10 minutes after placing our order.

This hotel has to be one of the nicest I have ever stayed at in over 55 years. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Interesting menu that was changed daily and a fine selection of beers and wines. Our stay over 4 days was perfect. Will I be returning you bet I will. A little final touch on leaving you are given home made fudge and a few bottles of water for your trip. Rooms: Rooms are spacious and clean. Visualizza piatti

We went for a meal and the food was delicious. We asked about the chef hoping to get some information about his influences or past experiences and the waitress said everyone wanted to marry him! The service didn't match the quality of the food. I wasn't asked if I'd like a coffee so when I asked for one it arrived undrinkable I think the coffee plunger must have been broken. Food drinks: Very thoughtful and we'll presented. Waiting staff didn't seem professional

My goodness! What a delightful meal we had here last night. We live nearby and had guests staying with us and we were having difficulty finding a restaurant open for dinner on a Tuesday evening in Winter, until we remembered this charming hotel. From the kind welcome, the drinks, menu reading and warming fire in the lounge, followed by the classic, simply ambiance of the restaurant, the friendly and efficient staff to the truly wonderful food, the whole experience was faultless. We will be back, regularly. Highly, highly recommended.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
