"We visited El Hans to celebrate by birthday, based on the very positive reviews and recommendations from friends. I am Spanish and my husband Dutch, and we had high expectations about the food, so we ordered the seven course tasting menu. We started with an aperitif (cava and vermut) which was very nice and came with some olives and bread, followed by a starter with nice "croquetas". The waiters were friendly and fairly attentive. However once the sequence of courses began, our disappointment started. The first course was a salad with some grilled goat cheese and small pieces of not ripe enough mango. The salad leaves did not seem fresh and the plate was overall something quite mediocre and we did not understand why it was chosen to open a tasting menu at a restaurant serving spanish-inspired food. The next course were two "langostinos" that were ok but for something that was like a "tapa", the presentation on a big plate was somewhat odd. Then came the "bonito", which in itself was tasty but strangely accompanied by a somewhat messy combo of green vegetables, vegetable chips, and a sauce that did not add much flavour (good bonito does not even need a sauce!). By this time, we were quite puzzled and wondering whether the tasting menu had some sense of direction or was merely a random selection of plates. The next dish seemed at first a pleasant surprise; ' 'pulpo" (octopus) with a poached egg, mushrooms and a "foam" of iberico. But again there was too much going on on the plate. The pulpo and the egg with maybe a bit of the foam would have been nice, but too much foam and the addition of mushrooms (some of which were not well cleaned) turned the dish into a bit of a mess. Then we got the "secreto" (pork meat) which was OK, but by then we had already eaten too much heavy food and struggled to finish it, leaving also behind the chips, which were the same that came already with the bonito. Also while my portion of meat was rather pink my husband's was much more cooked. We were hoping for a light dessert when we got the chocolate "roots", which were quite nice. Once we had finished with the cheeses we felt like we did not really get what the chef wanted to show with this tasting menu and definitely did not think the price (170 EUR including aperitif, 3 glasses of wine and an orujo) was fair for what we got. We are considering whether or not to give El Hans another chance, but if we do, we will probably stick to the staples of Spanish cuisine."

Das Lokal ist meiner Meinung nach sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Bedienung ist total nett und herzlich und die Speisen sind sehr ansprechend. Die typischen spanischen Vorspeisen sind empfehlenswert. Sehr zu empfehlen. Gute Weine!

We ate in this restaurant twice in our visit to Vienna. The food was delicious. The menu is not extensive but the quality of food is excellent. Portions are not huge but there is attention to detail. Food looks as good as it tastes.

Tolles spanisches Lokal, extrem aufmerksame und freundliche Bedienung und sehr gute Qualität der Speisen. Die Kombination/Art der Speisen ist unkonventionell muss man mögen! Der Ziegenkäsesalat und die Croquetas waren vorzüglich! Preislich etwas zu hoch insgesamt.

das essen war qualitativ sehr hochwertig und lecker, kann aber für manche leute zu fruchtig süß sein, denn bei fast alle gerichte die wir hatten waren mit ein frucht oder fruchtpürre angerichtet, mir persönlich hat es geschmeckt. leider ist das lokal nicht klimatisiert, aber dafür haben sie eine große garten. service war auch nett und bemüht für die wohl der gäste.
