"We were a group of English guys staying in Bamberg for a weekend of beer, sightseeing more beer. Bamberg is, of course, the centre of the universe for fans of beer brewing culture. One of our group found Cafe Abseits on the internet.. it was possibly the best find of the weekend. I contacted the proprietor prior to our arrival to warn him of a group of men in need of a hearty breakfast some local where to go info. When we arrived, tables were reserved for us we were warmly greeted by the owner who proceeded to tell us about the wonderful beer brewing heritage of Bamberg. We were served up a fantastic breakfast the emphasis was on hearty portions rather than gourmet presentation, but we were all, without exception, greatly impressed by the quality size of the meal. In addition to the great breakfast, Cafe Abseits has an impressive beer list, focusing mainly on local produce. We were treated to much inside knowledge from the proprietor during our ordering of beer. A man with an obvious passion for his product ! To cap it off, we were offered a sample beer, on the house, of a special beer brewed by a local independant brewer using hops grown by a local farmer. The owner didn't need to spend so much time with this level of personal attention, but he did we were all blown away by our visit there. It's tucked away a bit, on the wrong side of the train station for most tourists making their way into town. But that only added to it's charm. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in beer who is visiting this amazing town for the weekend. I could not fault this place will remain indebted to the owner for such a warm welcome to Bamberg."

"Wir waren heute Mittag im Cafe Zafran essen. Der Service dort ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Vorspeise war wirklich schlecht, das Gemüse im Teig war einfach viel zu lange in der Fritöse und dafür hat man es viel zu kurz abtropfen lassen, dadurch war es viel zu ölig, dazu gab es eine Soße ... dafür dass wir ein Naan und einmal frittiertes Gemüse als Vorspeise hatten... ich finde da wäre mehr als eine Soße angemessen, auch wenn diese Soße gut zu dem Gemüse gepasst hat. Das Naan war leider auch nicht lange genug im Ofen, der Teig war noch nicht mal richtig durch. Was man aber wirklich loben muss sind die Hauptspeisen, wir hatten beide vegetarisch bestellt und es gab geschmacklich nichts zu beanstanden, was aber zu beanstanden war, war das Tiefkühlgemüse in komischerweise nur einem der beiden Gerichte. Der Reis hingegen war sehr gut.Das Zafran würde ich für eine Hauptspeise mit Reis sehr empfehlen, geschmacklich sind die ein Volltreffer.Von Vorspeisen und Naan sollte man eher die Finger lassen.Eventuell werden wir noch einmal kommen."

"the brewery gasthof höhn has a very long tradition in memmelsdorf. they are already very good beer in the 7th generation and are always concerned that the guests feel comfortable. the kitchen, whether brooding or defensive Franconian meal offers always best quality and good portioning and quite favorable prices. to the already well-equipped rooms in the gasthof came a hotel renovation, which is also superior. they can return daily, except on Tuesday. from 10 o'clock the gastronomy is open. . the rooms in the guest house are for single rooms from 54,00 euro, and for double rooms from 80,00 euro with shower and wc as well as breakfast. the prices for the hotel rooms are slightly higher. I always felt comfortable in this house and almost like home. I was allowed to observe the old brewer once in the brew when I asked him what he does in there, he said to me: this is what I don't taste for a handful more of the beer must taste after it! it would be the worst if a gas says you're not tasted! I would like to recommend the moans with 5 stars."
