"The accommodation was very pleasant although the large number of cushions were a nuisance. There were a couple of defects that should have been noticed before we arrived. There were two blown bulbs in the overhead lighting making it difficult to read after dark. They were quickly replaced after we told the staff. The W.C. seat was loose, making it a bit awkward to use. All else was fine in the room. The meal was not at all satisfactory. I had the pheasant dish, and it was very tough due to being overcooked. I had to request a sharp knife, but was unable to recover all the leather like meat. The potato had the distinctive stale taste that comes from re-heating. My wife's fish dish was also overcooked and was tough, odd for a fish. We had two gin and tonics which appeared to have very little gin, if any. We will not be returning for another visit."

Very nice food and staff but a shame a lot of the food had run out and we only dined at 8!

The restaurant was really quiet first, but then the atmosphere was much better than the evening went. Food was excellent!

Very good quality meal with choices on a la carte for all. The food was great and well cooked. Wine was a little expensive. Overall a pleasant experience on our wedding day

I was not too impressed with my food, but my partner was delicious, so just a question of taste. The server noticed that I don't like and gave me a discount on the price. The location was beautiful and then went around the gardens. Nice setting

I wasn't very impressed with my meal, but my partner's dish was delicious, so it was just a matter of personal taste. The server noticed that I didn't enjoy my food and gave me a discount on the bill. The restaurant had a lovely location, and we enjoyed walking around the gardens afterwards. It was a beautiful setting.

The meal was actually very tasty, the portions are small but filling. The setting is lovely, especially by the windows, but some more soft furnishings (e.g. table cloths) would help reduce the overall noise level by providing some absorption and improve the look of the restaurant which doesn't quite live up to the standard of the food and surroundings. We visited at 7 pm (weekend) and were the only customers at this time. There was no music and it felt like the restaurant was not even open; it was strange and slightly unpleasant. We had given a set menu, £25 for two courses. So we chose bread (additional cost £3) followed by main and dessert. Despite the lack of ambience, the bread and the main were nice, but nothing extraordinary. And the chocolate dessert was similar to shop purchased microwave chocolate pudding. In short, it is an underwhelming meal / experience and about price.

Regrettably, the food was so bland as to be almost tasteless! Eg a polenta and a raspberry mousse that tasted of nothing at all. Portion sizes were small and it wouldn 't have killed them to include some seasonal vegetables with the main courses. People at neighbouring tables were having similar experiences, including a 'poached peach ' that had not seen any cooking whatsoever, was still whole and was rock hard. Simply not acceptable at the prices charged! Oh, and a not-particularly-discretionary 10% service charge. No, we didn 't complain, because it did not seem likely to be worthwhile... Stay at the hotel, by all means (perfectly pleasant), but I really can 't recommend trying this restau...

"My mother and I had been following the Masterchef Pro comp ' last year and were really keen to sample some of the winner, Tom Hamblet 's, food. We travelled a 4 hour round trip for the experience. We don 't eat at fine dining restaurants often but we are foodies. Firstly, the setting of the restaurant is very lavish and comfortable with warm low lighting. That said, the dinner experience was a little too dark for my mother so that 's something to think about if you struggle with eyesight and low lighting. The service was friendly, attentive and speedy/efficient. The food: I 'll start with the dessert because that was a real pleasure for us. We both loved the flavours of Tom 's end of series winning dessert so the meal ended on a high (we ordered the Olive Oil sponge with lemon curd). I recommend not ruining your palette with the overly sweet petit four that are placed in front of you following dessert unfortunately ours were more sugar flavoured than any other identifiable flavour. Our starters and mains were very VERY underwhelming. They arrived looking beautiful, neat and tidy but failed to deliver on taste. I had wanted the celeriac themed starter but the waiting staff told me the vegan/veggie starters and mains were created by their head chef and not Tom. That was disappointing as his 3 month residency was the reason we 'd visited the restaurant. We ended up both having the lobster starters after the waiting staff recommended it highly as either a starter or an additional dish to share. The claw meat was minimal and tough and the foam mousse took centre stage on the plate. Whilst the plate had lots of textures to it, we felt it was unbalanced and generally with no 'wow ' to it. We enjoyed the coffee and rye bread with butter and pollen/fennel that came prior to this thought. I ordered the Guinea Fowl as a main after the waiter described it as a gamey, dark and tender meat. I feel like a better description to someone that hasn 't had guinea fowl before would be 'it 's like a chicken breast with a different flavour '. This is what arrived in front of me and I actually found it was quite dry and not dark at all! I would never have ordered anything that resembled chicken breast anyway so I felt ill informed about my choice. I also thought the girolles were overwhelmingly tart. I didn 't enjoy my main. Mum 's Hogget was nice but average for her too. Last comment I 've never in my life paid £6.50 for less than 1.5ltrs mineral water beware! I don 't care how much money you have it 's water!!!"

"Service: 11/10 Starter: Calamari Duck Parfait - 10/10 Main Course 1: 50-Day Aged Fillet Mignon with Bordelaise Sauce (cooked *Blue*) - 100/10 Main Course 2: Fish and Chips - 9/10 Dessert: Hot Brownie - Over 9000! I want to extend my thanks to the front-of-house team for their warm welcome. Although we arrived a bit late, they were incredibly accommodating. Special thanks to Irvana (I hope I spelled that correctly) for providing excellent service! My steak experience took me on a nostalgic journey—like Anton Ego savoring his ratatouille in Gusto’s restaurant. It reminded me of a family meal in Holland during my childhood, where I had my first real steak. This may have even surpassed that memory! I was initially hesitant about dining at Miller and Carter since it's a chain restaurant, but if you're feeling the same way, let me assure you: don't be. While it may not be the cheapest option, it definitely deserves a smart-casual dress code that anyone who understands proper dining etiquette should respect. Curious, I browsed through other reviews, and I found it hard to believe anyone could leave a 1-star review without sounding like a “Karen.” It’s important to take reviews with a grain of salt—this is truly a fantastic restaurant! In summary, if you're a fan of steak, this place will take great care of you and provide excellent recommendations for how to enjoy your meal just the way you like it. Perfect!"
