While it was somewhat pricey, the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend it for a special occasion.

Amazing from start to finish. Food is excellently presented and tastes fantastic. A real gem worth walking those extra steps from the high street.

The food was superb! The pork cutlet 'nibbles ' and the scallops in corn puree were especially tasty. We had a wonderful meal, great service and good wine. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for amazing quality of food.

Absolutely loved it and will definitely return. The food was sooo tasty and beautifully presented. The service was super, wry friendly and chatty. Only one fault you could do with a door between bar and restaurant to stop that cold draught. It was a bit on the cool side.

The dining experience and atmosphere at Hengata are exceptional. Every dish is crafted with great attention to detail, and the quality of the ingredients is outstanding. They also offer an extensive drink selection. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend it!

Very warm welcome from the owner or co-owner and excellent service all round. The menu is not extensive but has something for everyone and I can assure you lovingly cooked and presented to a very high standard. My wife though not a veggie chose a veggie dish Mushroom Wellington and it was delicious. Overall one of the best meals we have had recently and great value for money.

We went Tuesday afternoon and had the place pretty much to ourselves which we appreciated as a group of young new mums. Felt fitting for our Christmas lunch with our babies and will return with our partners in the evening for a different atmosphere and to try the dinner menu. Lunch menu has a lot of choice and the chef tweaks things upon request. Chatty service and friendly! Will return in a couple of weeks.

My only criticism is that there were no real milk-free options for the main course, and only one in the dessert section. However, when I inquired about a milk-free dish, the staff was very accommodating and informed me that they could easily omit an ingredient from one of the appetizers, which worked perfectly for my guest, and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The ambiance was pleasant, and the location was very comfortable. Considering the quality of the food, the prices were reasonable. Overall, a lovely experience!

Nice decor and feel to the place. Nice friendly staff and accommodating when we wanted to move our coats from next to the grill. Sri Lankan chef had residency for a couple of weeks and had lovely influence in the dishes. Lentil and carrot fritters were amazing, but the octopus was a let down, as was the bread. Sea Bass main was great, with a lovely chickpea base. The jackfruit croquette was amazing. The cardamon custard tart was more scrambled eggs unfortunately. Nice wine recommendations. I thought the whole experience and concept was great and will definitely go again.
