"this place was recommended in a book about in-depth travel in Tuscany. we were greeted by Maryangelle the owner who made sure throughout the lunch that everything is ok . She is the menu, and explained in good English every dish. we ordered one portion of Pasta in mushroom sauce to share, we didnt know that it is made with tomatoes which my dearest doesnt eat, when we explained it to her she immediately prepared a tomato free ravioli with ricotta and greens, which was much better then the excellent Pasta with mushrooms. for Secondi we got one venison cooked in wine and rabbit in fennel, for sides we took broiled chard with garlic and fried vegetables. Everything was just great. the Flan we took for dessert brought up childhood memories, and the good part was that it wasnt too sweet. the view from the restaurant's window is beautiful it is certainly worth the beautiful trip up to Maggiona, and after that just driving in the enchanting forest"

Felt like we came home to a family with honest home coocked lunch. Nice view from open windows and owner spoke really good english. House wine also good. Reasonably priced.

Una vera delizia. È sempre un'esperienza speciale pranzare al Cedro. Piatti davvero gustosi, e con una vasta scelta anche per i vegetariani. La gentilezza e la disponibilità rendono tutto ancora più speciale. Il nostro punto fermo quando siamo in zona. Lo consigliamo vivamente.

si trova nel piccolo villaggio di moggiona, a pochi km da poppi e camaldoli. accoglienza familiare e cordiale: La signora Mariangela spiega saggiamente i piatti ricchi della giornata. cibo genuino, gioco cucinato con abilità. ottimi tortelli di patate, pappardelle alla lepre idem. eccezionale il cervo brasato al vino. torte fatte in casa molto buono e conto assolutamente contenuto se legato alla qualità. Torneremo sicuramente. consigliato!

Visita obbligatoria una volta all'anno nonostante sia a 2 ore di distanza. Il cibo è genuino e fresco, con diversi piatti fuori menu a seconda della stagione e di ciò che offre il bosco. I tagliolini ai funghi prugnoli sono eccellenti, così come gli altri primi piatti come le pappardelle alla lepre e i tortelli integrali. La cacciagione è cucinata con maestria, consigliamo vivamente il cervo e il capriolo. I dolci fatti in casa sono freschi e saporiti. We ate here once years ago and don't remember being especially impressed, but we returned at our friends' suggestion and were very happy with the choice. We were warmly welcomed by the family and ordered a little bit of everything to share. The food was outstanding!! Delicious home made pastas, including the best ever ravioli filled with spinach, bietola and cheese. The fritti misti was perfect probably the best fritti I've ever had. Cinghiale in umido and coniglio in porchetta were also fantastic. Overall, the food was exceptional, the service and atmosphere were wonderfully friendly, and the price fair for the high quality of the food.

It is some years since I last ate at Il Cedro and it is as good as I remembered. There was a wide choice of dishes which are seasonal and using local ingredients and in the end we asked to try what was advised as particularly nice the days we went we had three meals in total. The service is delightful and everything is carefully explained in English if needed. It is a family concern and it is nice to know the family are also enjoying the food in their dining room! Sunday lunch is a big occasion and it is open some evenings it is worth asking in the adjoining shop which is run by the same family! It is a busier area in the summer of course and for festive weekends.

Well the table next to us of 10 had booked a year in advance. That says it all. No menu, just the owner who described what was available while her sister cooked the meals. Options were rabbit ragu, guinea fowl , wild deer, wild boar, and so the list goes on. She even confessed that the mushrooms had been picked that morning in the adjoining forest. Brilliant is the only way to describe the meals. The deserts were all home made and the cheesecake made with limoncello was stunning. Excellent wines, great service and we thought it was great value for money. On the door there were at least 20 Michelin awards. So all I can say is do yourself a favour and make the effort. Se stai cercando autentici piatti toscani, sei nel posto giusto. C'è sempre solo una piccola selezione di piatti nel menu. Il sapore dei piatti è davvero eccellente. Il ristorante è arredato in modo semplice, ma è così che è in Toscana. Il proprietario è super cordiale e parla anche inglese. Il ristorante è aperto solo dal venerdì alla domenica e aperto solo la sera del sabato. Principalmente i locali vengono qui a mangiare. Da una parte questo parla per l'autenticità della cucina e, dall'altra, spiega anche gli orari di apertura. Il ristorante è stato menzionato più volte nella Guida Michelin come ristorante autentico. I am happy a friend halfway across Europe, whose father hails from this little village, mentioned Il Cedro to us, and I tried to visit at our first opportunity. We booked a table by phone although, since we had lunch on a weekday, that was not strictly necessary. Mariangela, who oversees the dining room, made us feel very welcome and is a delight to have a chat with. We came especially to taste their wild game dishes, so we each had pappardelle with hare meat ragout, and then we shared a dish of deer meat stewed in Chianti wine.
