"I don't often rave about roast dinners on Sundays, but I take my hat off to this place. We ordered the Angus beef and we were not disappointed. The beef was cooked perfectly just how I like it and just how beef should be cooked in my opinion medium-rare. It came with a nice portion of vegetables and very nice roast potatoes. We were slightly famished after out jolt up the hill to see Jack Jill windmills. We both chose the chocolate brownie for dessert which came with the best ice cream. The local beer was good too. We sat in the garden and enjoyed a nice roast in the sunshine overlooking nice views of the Downs. Now can I get a complimentary Jack Jill Inn T-Shirt for my nice review?"

Visited for a quick afternoon drink with colleagues. Very friendly and a lovely Sussex pub, definitely worth popping in.

Ok all round, not brilliant but ok. The food was average, the menu small. The staff were more concerned with a large party that was coming in. Will not retuen

What has happened to the food its terrible worst roast ever. Hard veg horrible meat over cooked in the microwave tables not clean gone down hill. Over priced shame used to be good.

The ham in the ham, egg and chips was mediocre. Chips seem to be only chunky chipos, which I do not like. Child's Sausages, Bean and chips was average quality and cost £9.20. Large portion of chicken, leek and ham pie with mash and veg cost £15.70. The service was good. No one had fish so I cannot comment on those dishes. Sorry no photos.

Our party of 15 thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch yesterday, Clare had made the occasion effortless for me, making and overseeing all the arrangements. the service was very efficient and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Pre lunch drinks in their beautiful garden was perfect for 2 year old twins, followed by our lunch in the pub’s dining room. Thank you so much Clare and Team, we will definitely all be back x

We chose the place after looking at the website, and seeing it had a garden (though on the day it was too wet and cold to use it. Quite old fashioned deco. rThe food is good enough though the website is misleading when it comes to kids meals from £6.20 as it turns out they are £9.40 or £9.40 not inc dessert. Seating not comfortable, bench seat was too low for the table. There were cushions but we gave them to the kids so they could reach the table on their chairs.

In July 2019 we have a family gathering- 35 of us ranging from 1 to 80. We booked the function room (a separate building from the pub) and the linked garden. We ordered a buffet and some soft drinks but ordered all other drinks individually from the bar. The setting was perfect... large garden with lots of seating, shade and room for playing. And the function room which had plenty of room for all of us. The food was great (they were really accommodating for adapting the menu to our needs) as was the service. Highly recommended!

"We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It 's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they 're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We 've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather it 's a triumph of design. Then there 's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I 've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed there is nothing stuffy or obsequious about Gravetye everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post family wedding get together. Cannot recommend too highly just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather. Walkability: Lots of paths. The lower areas are easy for those with limited mobility, however it might be tricky to get up to the kitchen garden if you 're not great on your feet. Food drinks: See my review."
