I love this place for its bagels. Sun-dried tomato with cream cheese bagel is my favourite. The place also holds a huge collection of English books. I prefer the ground floor area over the basement as I am not a fan of windowless places.

Preciosa cafetería con personalidad propia en el centro de Madrid (Noviciado). La he visitado un par de veces y volveré en el futuro. Los tés y los cinnamon roll son excelentes. El chico que siempre atiende en barra es muy amable y cordial. El mejor lugar donde encontrar libros de segunda mano en inglés. Repetiremos seguro.

Bar-tienda acogedor y cultural enfocado en el intercambio de inglés y español. Lo hace a través de su bookstore de segundamano en el sótano y de actividades diversas en su bar como sus pubquiz, sus intercambios inglés-español, sus brunch (con bagels propios), juegos de mesa y organizando deporte en grupo. Todo en un ambiente muy amable.

blink and you will miss it. but if they love secondhand books and a relaxed pub atmosphere with its charming tiredness and warm welcome, they must pay this tiny place a visit! we left with American English Australian and other accents that rang in our ears and a full of books for the whole family to the siesta hours away. much recommended!

Bagels are hard to find in Europe, but this place has great! I really like the cheddar jalapeño and they give them a good amount of creamy with it. you can get a bagel with cream cheese plus a moimosa for only 5 euro. each mimose after is only 1 euro more. it is a lot and I recommend this place very much. the seats can be spicy at the weekend, but there is a whole staircase down with a large table so that they do not find too hard of a time to find a place.

a beautiful place to relax and a cup coffee and a snack after browsing the stack of books. j’s is owned by an expat from the states, but he is long enough in madrid to be one of them. it was obvious from the short time I sat on the theke that he has faithful masters who love to come and chat with him. I had 2 cappuccinos and also went down to look around. the books are well organized by type and carr and the prices are very reasonable. my cappuccinos were delicious, the environment was great, and the owner couldn't have been nicer. stop them when they shop in the opposite or if they are looking for a book in English.

my teacher recommended this place and even came with a group of us there for coffee and drinks according to the class. He talked a lot about this place and I see why he did it. as soon as they go in them, they are greeted by books and the smell of fresh coffee. in the first floor there are a few small tables to sit and a medium size bar. they have a great choice of beer, wee and coffee. beside some homemade snacks like hummus and pita brot and bagels with cream cheese. when they go down, they are greeted by a lot of books stacked from the floor to grow. they have books from every time, thema and genre they can find and if they don't have it, they can best believe they can request it.
