Visited mainly for the distillery. Lunch was good and my husband enjoyed the cullen skink. Did some whisky tasting at the bar as tours were not available. Bought another bottle to take home.

We arrived straight off the morning plane from Glasgow and booked on to the next tour. While we waited we had a bite to eat which was a real Godsend. We were ravenous. Toasties all round......

Delicious lunch! I hope more distilleries in Islay offered food. Definitely try the Cullen Skink (and then the whisky). The toasties were also tasty, and my wife really enjoyed the hot chocolate. Visualizza piatti

After a walk on the most glorious beach nearby, we visited the distillery cafe and had a lovely lunch of soup and sandwiches. A good selection of gifts available to buy not all of them whisky related.

We stopped off here for some lunch with our dog. We were allowed to bring our dog inside the cafe but there's also an outdoor area where you can have lunch. The staff were very helpful, friendly also gave our dog a water bowl....

"Given that the Ardshiel is an institution in Campbeltown we were excited to stay but other than the whisky bar (incredible selection with very fair pricing) we were underwhelmed by the food, service and especially the rooms (renovated, but to the bare minimum standards with very uncomfortable beds). In the end if we'd gotten some cheer or a smile from at least one staff member that could have helped us to overlook the lackluster food and rooms, but everyone was so stiff and dour that we were relieved to only be staying one night. Summary: amazing whisky selection but recommended to eat and sleep elsewhere."

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"Cafe is easy to find right on the street opposite the harbour. Please note that during COVID-19 social distancing restrictions BOOKING is essential. The quiche was great in flavour and taste and clearly home made. The only downside was the pastry had gone soggy possibly being microwaved to heat up. The coronation chicken was one of the best I have tried. The soup was also clearly home made lentil but my personal preference would be to have it thicker. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of free parking along the street and around the back of the cafe. The cafe was very busy and popular with both locals and tourists. Good controls and procedures are in place for the COVID-19 virus. Definitely the best cafe for lunch in the area and I would recommend if in the area."

"I had to give this place a 1-star rating across the board because I wasn't allowed to eat inside with my dog. While I understand that the restaurant has its policies, I believe the attached pub could have designated a table or two for dog-friendly dining. I left feeling very disappointed and ended up walking to the Ardshiel Hotel, where I was warmly welcomed with my dog. They also had fantastic food! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"
