"This was one of the restaurants we tried to get into the night before but found it fully booked. So we booked our table for five people in advance, this time.Inside is very cosy. I would guess there were only about 22 covers in all so you definitely need to book. During the evening many people were coming in looking for a table until the manageress put a sign up to the effect that they were full.Menus are on a series of blackboards with the items written in fairly small writing. We asked about starters and were shown a menu on the wall down by the door. It was not legible from where we were sitting. Some of us got up to read it more closely. Others couldn’t be bothered, so skipped starters.We then asked about main courses and a large blackboard was brought into the restaurant from the back and propped up on an empty chair. We asked about wine. Yes, you’ve guessed it! It was on a blackboard, this time fastened to the wall at the opposite end of the restaurant. They only had about three wines.Food was very good and very reasonably priced. We had a range of meals from duck to steak etc and all were pronounced excellent.Time for dessert. Another blackboard is brought out and propped upright on the end of our table with me having to hold it in place while everyone else chose their dessert. After a while I dropped it the floor where it remained for a while.I’m not really sure why there was such dependence on blackboards as the items on them seemed to be their core menu. In other words, I didn’t get the impression that they changed much. So, why couldn’t they just use straightforward menus, even paper ones if necessary. That was the only downside to this place but we would definitely return for the food alone."

Very inventive menu but also with typically French dishes to offer. We went at lunchtime which was a bit less crowded and closing by 2pm. I had salmon and chorizo with rice, which l thoroughly enjoyed.

We found this little restaurant off the beaten track and how glad are we that we did.The lady who ran the bar could speak a little English - far more than my French and did everything possible to explain the menu.The restaurant itself was lovely, traditional and very clean. The food was out of this world. We had the prawn, chicken and beef dishes and the though of them is making my mouth water, the service second to none.You have to visit if you are ever in Angers.

Searched on google for a gluten free restaurant in Angers. This one was recommended located restaurant went inside to speak to proprietor in French I might add and was told no could not do gluten free then shouted at us to "aller" which came across as "get out". Really not good enough to treat tourists this way. We were in our second language willing to spend lots of euros etc and were treated like dirt. It was dead on 1pm we had politely asked if they were open before entering. The thuggish owner was most rude and aggressive in manner. I have reported to Angers tourist board.
