As the previous reviews say, the food is delicious here! I chose the fish of the day, they had sea bass and it was very well prepared! The owner is indeed a bit pushy but we just found him funny. As we’ve been there during the low season, the service was ok :

In questo locale nel centro di Taormina abbiamo mangiato bene e con porzioni abbondanti. Purtroppo ci sono stati alcuni nei, la mancanza del QR Menù ma soprattutto la presenza di antichi... pesanti e poco presentabili menù tradizionali ed il personale, tutto e dappertutto, seppur gentile e cortese, senza mascherina.

We decided to return to this restaurant after a whole week of experimenting other venues. None like this great fish prepared simple but very tasty. The owner and the staff are very friendly, honest advice about the choices and felt treated like old patrons! The freshness and the filleting on the table are wonderful. You won’t regret this choice

Eccellente ristorante e non solo un ottimo locale ma anche ottimo cibo situato in una delle tortuose strade laterali del Corso Umberto, il Grotto ha un'ambientazione molto suggestiva e punta tutto sul pesce/frutti di mare con un impressionante frigo con vetro sopra che mostra la sua collezione. Servizio molto buono e diventa popolare, giustamente anche. Merita sicuramente una visita.

Il cibo era buono, tuttavia il servizio è stato al minimo o scortese .. in particolare la donna che ha preso il pagamento. Quando ho chiesto cosa fosse il primo addebito di 6 euro sul conto, ha sostenuto che fosse il coperto e che tutti i ristoranti lo addebitassero. In realtà.. no, non lo fanno. Se così fosse, forse è nascosto ma non l'ho mai visto prima. Non mi sono lamentato, ho solo chiesto. Poi ha continuato a dirmi che era per tovaglie, tovaglioli, ecc. Cosa?! Questo è il costo di fare affari e i clienti non ti chiedono di usare queste cose, è una scelta del ristorante. Con tutte le opzioni in questa città, non torneremo lì. Ovviamente non contano sul servizio ripetuto e trattano i tur...

Siamo andati a pranzo e siamo rimasti davvero delusi. Il cameriere/proprietario è stato molto brusco e poco accogliente. Ci è stato dato del pane secco, senza burro o olio d'oliva. Ci è stato detto bruscamente che un piatto era finito e mio marito è stato affrettato nell'ordinarne uno alternativo. La cameriera urlava molto forte e aggressivamente in cucina, rendendo l'atmosfera tesa e poco rilassante. Abbiamo aspettato 15 minuti per le bevande e circa 45 minuti per il nostro pasto. La pasta non era nemmeno fresca. Li abbiamo visti portare la pasta secca in cucina per i pasti! Il mio pesce spada era nella media e avevo chiesto se veniva servito con verdure.
