We hadn't been there for a while but the muscle were as good as ever. I recommend the €19.90, this is a good quality menu for the price.

Loved my dinner in this down to earth moules-tastic venue . Great service , tasty moules and views of the sea. Arrive early if you want to get a table.

Before you even walk through the doors you can tell this place cares about its customers. The rest of the experience confirms this first impression and makes for a most satisfying meal. One issue; the evening opening time is published as 18:30 where it is 19:00 in reality and the owners give no indication of opening times anywhere; as far as I can see.

We were two times in the restaurant and the service and the food was great. Too bad that we found this restaurant so laste otherwise we have been their for more then two times. The only point are the steaks. Here they need some more experiences but this is a high level comment. We preferred the fish and "mouls" and the kids the burger. And we all love it. Next time again.

Moules were big at the top and small at the bottom of the casserole.Didn't think they were fresh either.Its was ok nothing more. Setting and decor was slightly better but we felt that the pizza place next door by the sea offered better moules..Service was fine and prices slightly on the higher end of the scale for value.Comes to show that decor can attract the tourists when food was average... I reserved "The Merry Mussel" on line. The garish red neon light is a little off-putting but we soon discovered that this place offered much more than mussels i.e. a wide range of meat and fish dishes. We really enjoyed our meals -much better than another place down the road. It is simple fair but well cooked and not huge quantities. I have deducted a point for the inedible lime peel on our fish and the odd bone in a filet. But I would recommend for a decent, simple meal

One and a quarter hour wait for some moule frites. When we raised the issue with the waiter, we were told such a wait was normal in a restaurant, and we were not at Mc Donalds. Considering I ordered a plate of hour old mussels and frozen chips I might as well of been at Mc Donalds. If such a wait is normal in a restaurant try telling your customers on the way in, and see how many will actually stay and suffer such a wait. The arrogance of the waiter in question was breath taking.

We dined at the Moules Joyeuse in the hope of enjoying a first class Moules mariniere (my own favourite) or Moules a la creme (my wife's preferred mussels dish); after all, a restaurant specialising in mussels had to be a good bet for lovers of mussels (didn't it).Unfortunately, our hopes were dashed since the whole dining experience was very ordinary. The service was patchy , starting off pleasant but swiftly moving to disinterested; the food was uninspiring and lack-lustre with many empty mussel shells and thin and indifferent sauces.Neither the service or the food was bad, it was simply dull and disappointing with nothing sufficiently memorable to tempt us to return in the future.
