"I was impressed on many levels. The first has to be its location, situated in the tiny village of Ambres some kilometres from Lavaur, and definitely worth the drive. Compared to other restaurants in the area, Chez John feels different, even from the outside. The first impression upon entering is one of contemporary elegance, a city style rather than rural charm, with widely spaced tables and delightful modern cutlery and glasses. The lighting isn't harsh, the decor works perfectly, and a warm welcome only adds to the ambience. Now I've eaten in a number of restaurants where all this can feel pretentious, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating so to speak, and here Chez John doesn't disappoint. The menu is small but well balanced and using the freshest locally sourced ingredients. The dishes are assembled with great attention to detail, the flavours are harmonious, and everything cooked to perfection. The wine list isn't extensive but cover most tastes and aren't overly expensive, favouring several from the local wine-growing area of Gaillac. The plates aren't copious but you wouldn't expect them to be for a restaurant of this kind. What you do get is quality and a memorable dining experience, where good food and service set Chez John apart. Definitely worth a visit."

"Je mets 2 étoiles car les galettes/crêpes étaient bonnes. Cependant j’enlève les 3 étoiles pour le service. Dans un 1er temps mon amie appelle pour réserver l’homme qui a répondu à été très désagréable « oui bah là on est en plein service rappelez ce soir ». Elle rappelle et réserve le soir. Le lendemain midi nous nous présentons, pas de réservation enregistrée. Ensuite nous avons commandé 3 galettes, la serveuse nous les a échangées, a oublié de nous apporter le pain, ma collègue prend la commande de dessert et la serveuse n’a pas du l’enregistrer car l’autre serveur a dû revenir la prendre Pour résumé, les plats sont bons, mais le service et l’amabilité à revoir"

"Toujours assez délicat de trouver un lieu où bien se restaurer un dimanche. Nous l’avons pourtant trouvé dans ce Logis de France à l’accueil très professionnel mais sincère de gentillesse. Notre choix s’est porté sur un beau menu aux plats plutôt originaux d’une grande saveur. Très bon jusqu’au dessert, le tout accompagné d’un excellent vin. Addition moyenne haute si apéritifs, vin et café mais un dimanche …."

"a Saturday of September 2016, market day, we were looking for a quiet place to enjoy the good weather and make a peaceful lunch. We've been advised this little restaurant that also makes tea room. Advantage of the place-: little traffic on the street- tables on the outside terrace- dishes prepared on site and fresh- simple formulas all understood according to the dish, we all have well eaten but the opinions were mixed between good and very well, but in one time, difficult to make a definitive opinion, so go there!"

"we dined on the floor, chosen the menu at 19 euros with entrance - dish - dessert. So let's be honest, the meal was actually good for the price.But I would have preferred to pay a little more expensive and have a more tasteful entrance (fish flan and mousseline of suitable shrimp but rather insipid), well-cut duck parmenter but 80% of potato, shotamisu with correct strawberries but rather a vanilla mousse with some strawberries. You will be satisfied with the welcome in all perfect points, just wait for a good meal for a reasonable price but not quite at the height if you are gourmet and connoisseur."
