"We visited this restaurant on our first night in Durham as it was close to where we were staying. I am delighted that we did as the food was really good. There was a very good choice of main meals and also desserts. I can thoroughly recommend the chicken dishes and also the pannecotta. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we returned again on our last night. The service was very good and our waiter was especially attentive and helpful as I have to eat gluten free. Thank you for two very enjoyable and tasty meals out."

"what a unique foundation we found here in durham. we visited shaheens at a cold and rainy night. a part of the block lost that makes early in the day; yet, shaheen is enduring and remained open. at the arrival we were greeted by Adam. as it turns out, this is a family-run restaurant, and adam is the son of the greender bob. but it felt more like being with the family (thanks to a restaurant where they cared for them and make sure they are completely abandoned and satisfied. eating was solid and proved a warm passion for the delivery of family recipes. we tried several articles from the starters to the specificities and sides of baltic shaheen. spice was well managed and delivered on the basis of their requests. and even the Spicier options were well controlled. for beginners we have tried the fried tweezers (bloods, india style, mushrooms and garlic, and a lambkabob. the kabob was by far our favorite. we then tried the black meal (a secret menu item). it was a solid surprise. for the net we both enjoyed the chiken tika (mild and spicy). it was strong in taste and filling. this was connected by brown basmati rice and garlic naan. all in all, worth a trip and a place we go back to. remember it as more house style where the family that operates the establishment welcomes them and cares for them. prost, shaheens."

"Visited at happy hour....the staff are super friendly, I ordered the potato skins, onion rose and Texas 2step. I think the happy hour portions may be slightly smaller compared to the pics in reviews.....but for this I am glad as there was more than enough and good value for money. 1st off the onion rose.....how can onion taste this good??! One of the tastiest things ive ate in a while. The ribs and chicken came out, the ribs were delicious and tender.....I thought I wouldn't eat the chicken goujons as was already full...but they surprised me how nice they were so ended up eating them all. All round great meal, definitely recommend."

"in this againstd um crossgate there are some great pubs, the ye old elm tree pub was such a pub we visited. if I went in here and I knew that I would enjoy my visit, the interieur is cool, a great serviceable, eclectic device and facility. and spread many sitting possibilities in this pub, its wonderful pub to relax. we were here on Thursday evening, warmly welcomed by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we decided to have a bright ale from the brew yorker brewery called thunder, which were served in excellent condition, we just stepped back and took in the big pub where we were. my pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, sounds of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slightly bitter finish on it, a classic British pale ale, so delicious and refreshing at such a hot evening. we both really enjoyed that our mate-alone is in here before we went on and although our visit was only for a first visit in the ye old elm tree pub volatile, we were totally impressed. the ye old elm tree pub is easy to find along crossgate. opening times are; Monday to Sunday, open from 11.30 a.m. a wonderful pub, one I recommend to them when they are in the opposite."

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
