"Though I had already formed my opinion based upon my experience last week, chatting up with friends over the few days has made me realise that my hunch was correct.While at Madras Cafe, avoid South Indian food. Especially if you are having dosas or vadais. The atmosphere is cramped (this might be because we visited them at peak lunch hour on a weekend). The staff is courteous, though sometimes unmindful. The general environment is that of camaraderie. A far cry from fine dining but a place that definitely soothes your search for Indian food in a foreign land.Try - Zafrani pulav, tandoori chicken, matar paneer. All of them good. Special reccos for the matar paneer.You might also love the Pistachio Kulfi. But please remember to ask the staff to slice it for you. Else, like us, you will end up with a kulfi blob hard enough to almost bend the spoon.Avoid - Definitely the dosas. Undercooked and lacking in taste. Having lived in South India for over 5 years and in love with the food, I was thoroughly disappointed with this one.The sambar vada was weird in texture. I have eaten enough vadais to last me a lifetime to know when one doesn't make the cut. This one didn't. And also came accompanied with something that I can only refer as "a tomato overdose chutney"So basically stick to your tandoori chicken and chicken tikka and matar paneer and pulav and south Indian thalis. You won't be disappointed."

It is called Madras Cafe but the food is not South Indian: rather classic curries, biryanis and thalis Very good price (menu 8 Euros with dessert)

Not expensive and not tasty. Like many othet Indian restaurants in that area, one more typical Indian restaurant serving food looks like Indian but withvery low taste.

The first impression is waiters on jeans and sports shoes. food was less than average for what we used to have here in England. Had a fish curry which was smelly and hot and our friends had chicken curry which they didn't enjoy. tandoori chicken starter was good and waiter was chatty and friendly though.

YES it's a mud but a good mud. The service is sober and efficient. The map is good, good, provided. It's not the choice that's missing. Prices are very affordable, which allows you to test dishes. Whenever i visit Paris and I don't want surprises but just honest food, I come this place and order chicken biryani (8€j. Excellent, plentyful, rich. Wow, after a disappointing meal next door at Bhavan, I tried again here. The food and service were perfect. I had the best dal butter fry I've ever had...Also it was cheaper than next door and the service was awesome. The waiter saw I had finished my dal and was eating plain rice, so he brings me a little bowl of delicious veggies...Sweet....The lovely woman running the place spoke English and we had a nice exchange. I plan on eating here daily upon my return to Paris. Beautiful people...awesome food.

We landed at the restaurant late on our way to catch a train and subsequently our flight to Munich. It was a cold day and we were happy to have something hot and Indian to eat. The waiters were very attentive and served us our food as soon as they could. I had a lovely South Indian thali and being so hungry and cold it went down as fast as I could eat. My husband had a very nice Chicken biryani. Their portion sizes are good. I even packed a fried rice to take to the airport as I had a long night ahead at the airport as my flight was in the wee hours of the morning and was surprised when I opened my parcel that they had also added some vegetables sambhar and a sweet at no extra cost.
