"My wife and I traveled from Manchester for a weekend getaway and we were delighted to find this hidden gem. The venue is lovely with a fantastic outdoor area where we spent the late afternoon enjoying the sun. The staff were exceptional and very friendly. We highly recommend trying the Aperol Spritz and Gin Fizz. They currently do not serve food, but will supposedly start again soon. The highlight of our visit was the live music in the evening by a great band called Big Trouble. We apologize to the band and staff for our dancing, but we had a fantastic time. We cannot recommend this bar enough – definitely worth a visit!"

Nice place. I was there on a Tues evening so quite quiet but friendly atmosphere. Offer on a Tues of £1 off a pint so an absolute bargain. Very clean toilets too Visualizza piatti

new manager who now allows dog in the bar. no food available in this pub. easy access to toilets in the ground floor and outdoor seating to the back in the pub, everything on ground floor. good selection of beer and spirits and shows sporting events on the main tw.

really good eating here. I had the cheese and bevel cake with 'shoestring' chips and enjoyed every bit of it. even the vege! the menu is very diverse and looks for many different diets. I really enjoyed the garlic bread and huhn 'popcorn' as well as the calamari. I do not see any signs of discrimination and bad eating, as others have suggested. Although I visited on a Tuesday afternoon, there was no hurry to cook. thanks for making our trip to kendal so beautiful.

if I hadn't found this place, I wouldn't have knocked first. she has torn a side-treet that is very imposing. but the service was exceptional before we got to eat at all, with nothing too much effort. I was looking for a Sunday roast and that was extraordinary. a mix of bark and chicken, with seasonal veg on the side with full taste. roasted potatoes crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. perfection. the mason fair for dessert, which should die for. no predictions here, only solid good eating at a great price! I am back. Visualizza piatti

They no longer do food but the way I was turned away and told to go elsewhere instead of offered a drink just felt rude. The staff member was busy talking, seemed disinterested and just told us to go somewhere else bluntly. I was in around 12pm if you want to stop this gent damaging your business. Disappointing as in the past the staff and food have been lovely, now both are lacking. I’ll save that guy a job, cut out the middle man and tell you to also go elsewhere, i ate at the fleece where the food and staff were both fantastic

My wife and I popped into this bar for drinks on a couple of occasions during our recent visit to Kendal. This pub has a really good beer garden through the back with lots of space, tables and chairs. On our first visit we were lucky to go when the Sauvignon blanc was on offer at £4.50 for a large glass and it only cost me £2.95 for a a pint of IPA. Coming from Edinburgh where you regularly pay £6 for a pint I was in beer heaven. The bar staff were grand pouring drinks with a smile. All in all a very good bar with lovely outside space.

"We were sure to book ahead for a table of 4 for 5.15 as it was a late Sunday roast we were fully aware that not everything would be available so it was no surprise when we were told that there was only gammon left for the roast option however there was still fish and chips homemade steak pie or vegetable lasagne. We happily opted for 3 gammon roast dinners and a homemade steak pie with mash (you get the choice of which potato you'd like) The food arrived piping hot with plenty of everything and it was so so tasty you could really tell everything was lovingly made from scratch for the roast the potatoes came both roasted and mashed with cauliflower, broccoli and carrot and swede mash. A generous helping of gammon and a large Yorkshire pudding with gravy that was clearly made with the juices as it was so flavourful. The steak pie was brilliant too homemade with large chunks of steak and a choice of potato and whether you'd like the same veg as that with the roast or with peas. This also came with gravy. For dessert there was a choice of either chocolate fudge cake, caramel apple pie or sticky toffee pudding and you had the choice of either cream, ice cream or custard. 2 of us got it with custard and 2 of us got it with ice cream and it wasn't overbearingly sweet it was perfect with a delicious caramel top! We all thoroughly enjoyed all the food and the drinks and service and will be back again one day if we find ourselves holidaying here again"
