"Went here for a meal with my partner and toddler. We ordered promptly and subsequently waited close to an hour for food at a time the pub was empty apart from one other table (who were already eating). We were told they'd forgot to put our order through and that it would be a couple more minutes before our food arrived. When it arrived, I cut open the fish (for my toddler) to find it cold and uncooked in the middle. I was delighted I checked it before I let him take a bite. I immediately let the staff member know who just about grumbled an apology. By this point I had a miserable and starving 2 year old and I'd had enough so we left. The girl behind the bar was friendly and brought crayons over for the toddler. This was the only positive. We left without even taking a bit of food. The food served was not safe and would recommend not visiting this place. To say it is so close to Paultons Park it was absolutely dead around closing time when you would think that families would be looking for a quick bite before travelling home. I can see now why it was empty."

Very tasty well cooked food, the pie I had was a real decent meat packed pie, proper food. Very good sized portions not leaving sufficient room for desert

Great pub/restaurant on the doorstep of Pepper Pig World where we had a lovely family meal at the end of our day out to PPW. Food was freshly cooked and very good. Good child menu. Staff were lovely and helpful. Would recommend especially after a day in the park.

The venue really needs refurbishment, the ceiling wallpaper is held up with staples and internally, it looks grim. The food was okay/average. Staff and service was good and the team are very kind. The bill, was unexpected, there is a huge markup on drinks, kids...

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Staff members are rude and unapproachable. Food was disgusting, as can be seen in attached photo. Burger came out rock hard, when I sent it back the staff were rude and tried to patronise me into thinking it was fine and that is just how the burger comes, could not even apologise. When the replacement burger came out it was just as hard and tuff, could not even bite it. The customer service is shocking. Thoroughly disappointed!

Their website featured a £12.00 lunch special menu which sounded promising. Unfortunately after buying drinks we were told it finished yesterday for the summer. Settled on just a starter and choose a sharing seafood platter for 2. That and a side order of fries totalled £19.98. They should be embarrassed to serve a platter that comprised of 4 small prawns, 6 small whitebait and 4 small pieces of tasteless calamari. A poor portion for one. On a positive, the fries were nice and the bar staff friendly and welcoming.

We went to Mortimer's Arms for a birthday celebration lunch. The booking ap was easy to use and the team emailed me to make sure the reservation was correct and to review allergies and any other needs. We arrived and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was served in good time and was delicious. I would recommend all the dishes we had (we all chose something different and we chose Pork in mustard sauce with pear and red cabbage, trio of venison sausages, lamb tagine, and steak and ale pie its a real pie not a filling in a dish with a lid btw). We also had dessert sticky toffee pudding was awesome, so was the brownie, pineapple crumble. We will definitely be going back and the...

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
