"I'm pretty familiar with Thai food; an ex-boyfriend of many years was Thai, and in general, I like Asian food. Upon first entering the restaurant, I was impressed by the decor, as well as the many certificates proclaiming the restaurant to be certified by a...number of Thai bodies. That's about where the comparisons with Thailand end. I came with a friend and her dog (a whopping five kilos, on a leash, and the best-behaved dog I have ever met). There was no indication that dogs weren't allowed. A woman working there yelled at my friend, who then took the dog out to the car. I asked if there was Thai iced tea (cha yen) on the menu. Yes said the waiter. What's Thai iced tea asked my friend. When I was explaining it to her, the waiter interrupted me to say that they just had iced tea with lemon. We ordered an appetizer of satay. The peanut sauce was good. However, the beef was so tough, we couldn't get it off the skewer. After we complained, we got two chicken skewers as replacement. They were also overcooked. In terms of our mains, I got beef and broccoli with glass noodles and my friend got a sweet and sour red curry with chicken. Basically, I have never seen glass noodles like that in my life. The noodles had been stir-fried with soy sauce, onion, and egg, and had cooled off by the time they reached the table, so it was kind of like one big glob of noodles. The noodles also tasted more like fettucine than glass noodles. The beef and broccoli mostly tasted of salt and the broccoli had the consistency of frozen broccoli. The sweet and sour red curry was better; the pineapple in the curry came from a can, though, and I also had the feeling that the red curry paste was not made in house, either. However, it still tasted OK. Given that Thai food is often associated with fresh ingredients, I was disappointed. At the end of the meal, my friend tried to give the waiter a coupon, but he rejected it, insisting that it was too late. The waiter brought us hot towels after the meal, and some chemical used on the towels made my hands break out. Basically, I'd give this place once and a half stars. One star for the atmosphere, another half star for the chicken curry and tasty peanut sauce accompanying the satay. Due to the rude staff and otherwise disappointing food, I won't be returning. This farang can cook better Thai food than Nakorn can."
