"My wife loved her sandwich, although she mentioned that it would have been easier to eat with a plate and cutlery due to the generous amount of filling - half of which ended up in the bag after she finished the sandwich. She suggested that a smaller size option would be a good idea, as the portion was quite large and could easily serve two people without skimping. The "pig in duvet," on the other hand, was a more modest size but packed with delicious flavors. It set a new standard for sausage rolls with its smoked bacon, tasty sausage meat, perfect spice level, and flaky yet stable pastry. The only improvement would be serving it warm. I was not a fan of the brownies, possibly because they were gluten-free. This was a bit disappointing after the amazing sausage roll. However, I will definitely be returning to try their coffee and stick to the savory options, as they were a hit."

"Harrogate. What can I say. People here will put up with the average and pay a lot for it too. Well, you don't have to now. Nothing mind-blowing happening here but the pizza is adequate and the price is better than anywhere else so why bother buying a big pile from Bambino's whilst fighting off the drinks when you can have a relatively civilised conversation and a pizza that doesn't taste like shoe. Well done."

"First visit, just popped in for a hot drink. Very warm welcome from Laura on entering. Nice wood burning stove pushing out heat into the bar area. Quite busy for a thursday lunchtime, everyone seemed to be eating. Food looked amazing at it came out. Coffee was very nice. Booked for New Year's Eve, can't wait. 2nd visit. Attended NYE celebrations. Food was amazing, guitarist very good. Great service atmosphere. Definitely be rebooking for 2024. 3rd visit now. Went for lunch, very busy Friday lunch. Great lunch menu new winter menu. Some lovely dishes took ages to decide. Opted for prawn crab cocktail, king prawn tempura, mains we had haddock goujons duck breast, managed pudding for one Sticky Toffee Pudding. All the food was delicious. Can't praise the chef enough. As always looked after by Laura. We will return. Thanks. 4th visit. Another faultless lunch at The Malt Shovel. Lovely returning welcome from Laura. Great choice on the menu, no rush which we enjoy. Highly recommend liver onions , also Cajun Chicken sandwich and soup combo. Both meals arrived in due course, all freshly prepared, piping hot and very, very tasty. Hats off to James in the kitchen fo once again delivering 2 lovely tasting and presented meals. Arrived early, it was already busy. Shown to table 6 red1), plenty of room on table and around it. Nice choice on menu, we all decided on 1 course from lunch menu. Food arrived piping hot, very tasty indeed. Highly recommend fish goujons, pie of the day, cajun chicken sandwich. Looked after once again by James in the kitchen and Laura front of house. We will definitely back, new summer menu launches 1/6/24. Can't wait to sample it. Another lovely meal and experience, all under the eagle eye of Laura. "I came here for lunch with my teenage son and baby daughter having wanted somewhere that served an inventive homemade menu with tasty healthy options as well as tempting cakes and good coffee. We were not disappointed! The roasted cauliflower salad was delicious and the...mango chutney gave it a great lift. My son devoured the Spanish chicken salad and then a Rolo brownie and most of my Cherry and Almond cake (gluten free)!! The cakes were moist, tasty and there was an impressive range, with plenty of choice even mid afternoon. Coffee was good quality and hot with a good froth! Service was friendly and welcoming and they did all they could to make us as non regulars feel at home. I seriously wish we lived nearer I’d be in all the time! We will be back. Thank you so much!"

"Went here for dinner, had been visiting Harrogate and looking for Thai food on our Friday night. We didn't have a table booked up we waited in the bar for 20 minutes and had a drink, and they managed to fit us in. This was hands down the best thai food we've had in the UK, all the dishes were fabulous. Me and my husband had Set Menu B, an amazing array of dishes. Loved the mixed starter, the massaman and pork belly were also favourites. Our friends had fish cakes for stater, and then pad thai and curry for main, also all great. Staff were really attentive and nice without being overbearing. And the food is great value for money too, with massive portions. We will definitely be going back when we're next in Harrogate."

"second visit and was not disappointed, first was the lunch second dinner. beautiful personal large service and it was pretty busy as I think is the norm for them. the selection of food for vegetarian is very good, which helps me, often I am limited in the choice. eating was very tasty, portions were very good enough to choose wine. the venue is not huge and in the room in which we were, was a tad claustrophobic for me the tables are quite close to each other, so then it becomes quite loud. this is a “small” thing and my special “hang up” and would not stop me again. it has a very good call in harrogate and I am happy to go back. I would recommend the booking, I almost would not have and there is no possibility that we would have one!"

"Without a booking, the restaurant was able to offer us a walk-in table on a Saturday night. That was impressive. We had been told about The Tannin Level by friends who praised it highly. We were not disappointed. Our starters (scallops for me and black pudding for she) were delicious. For mains, I had slow cooked lamb which was superb and Pat raved about her Trio of Pork (oddly named, because it was actually a Duo). Accompanied by very nice Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from the “by the glass” selection. No room left for desserts so we just finished with coffee. We will be back."

"I have eaten at Quantro several times now and found the food to be very good. It's imaginative and the menu changes frequently. The early bird menu is particularly good value, however the A la Carte isn't that much more expensive. The first few visits we had a problem with a surly waitress. We put it down to many things, inexperienced, lack of confidence, etc. and carried on visiting regardless. We were served by the same waitress on our recent visit and were very pleasantly surprised. She welcomed us warmly, was all smiles and couldn't do enough for us. 10 out of 10!"

"My Husband ordered a farmhouse breakfast but the sausages were not cooked properly, the waitress came and took the sausages ,replaced and was apologetic which we appreciated but still added service charge to bill which we thought was really poor ,especially as we had bad experience with the food. We paid the service charge but will not be returning."

"Food was very good, good reputation, well deserved. However, we didn't eat until over an hour after we arrived. That is because it was 40 minutes until anyone took our main order. It's was not a busy night, plenty of empty tables. We were walked past at least 7 or 8 times and had to flag someone down in the end. I asked what the waitress recommended, and she wasn't able to recommend anything... She said it's a new menu so you let us know what's good.... Management, please train your front of house on your menu. Get your waiting staff passionate about your clearly great food. I had to ask another waiter and he was very shy about talking about the menu as well but at least he did give a recommendation after I pressed him further. In conclusion, it's a great place, great food, let down by service."

"Booked afternoon tea for me and a friend after looking at several excellent trip advisor reviews (I should have read more! . We paid £32.95 each plus £8.95 each for small bottle (one glass size of Prosecco We thought from the menu that we would get a variety of sandwiches but only got a choice of 1 each (2 fillings had a supplementary charge . When the food arrived we were soooo disappointed. The sandwiches were incredibly ordinary. No fancy bread or cut nicely. The ‘home made’ cakes on top were visually boring. A couple of fairy cakes with watery icing and 2 pieces of very small millionaires shortbread that looked ‘old’. The scones however looked and tasted lovely. And 2 teacups with very small portions of Eton mess were also nice. There was absolutely NOTHING special that warranted such a huge price! Nothing at all. We asked for the cakes to be boxed up and we ate them on our train journey home. The fairy cake was just ok and the millionaires shortbread did indeed taste old. On the way back to the train station we called at another place (Mama Doreen’s emporium for a drink and the afternoon teas that they were serving were incredible. We found out they were £25 each ! I don’t believe in posting a bad review on here without making the place aware first. I’ve sent them a message but had no reply. Hence I have no qualms posting this review."

"First time visiting here looking for something to eat family of three. The panni for six pound fifty wasnt worth it no chips or nothing the jacket tattie was dry as sticks not worth the money the dinner if you can call it that was tattie and 2 slices of pork little bit veg. The male was miserable as sin and proper ignorant if a wasnt starving a would of walked out also got charged for 2 coffees and only received one when we explained he tried to say he didn't charge us for two lies plus nibble and nosh sounds like the man needs a nosh off with a nibble of the cherry might cheer him up"

"service the service was mixed: the woman who took our beverage order looked like she had more important things with which she could proceed. However, a man came by and spent a good 5-10 minutes walking through the menu, explain all the options and said they were ready to offer everyone: nothing would be too much annoyed. this improved the experience and after that, the woman returned and seemed much happier to deal with us. besides the first quibble, the service was very good. food that was excellent. I went for a selection of 3 mini burgers who were very nice. all the others on the table also enjoyed their dishes (the ribs were particularly delicious. the prices were not too bad, but my miniburgers cost more than 1 big burgers that would have been good, but the minis were mini! I would bite-size say so that I wish they had been a little bigger than I felt at the end still hungry. I liked the idea to try 3 mini-burgers, but now I know the sizes, I would recommend going for a favorite bigger burger. if everything else fails, they could try their HUGE stackburgers. while I didn't see you coming out of the kitchen, they sounded impressive! atmosphere the only thing that really left this place. it was relatiw calm (probably because it is largely based on recommendations, because it is not close to the city center and so they would not stumble without knowing its existence! the worst part was the music. the restaurant seems to have a strange fascination with elvis presley to play his borrower on the loop. I'm not sure if they do this all the time, but it makes me think again, I'd have to sit three times through elvis's biggest hits. overall the restaurant is very pleasant and I would recommend that everyone there is one going. if they love burgers, there is something for them; but even if they don't, there are many pizzas and other great choices to choose."

"The Shoulder of Mutton is our favourite venue for eating out at the weekend. It is easy to get to, cosy, with real fires. The beer is excellent, well kept and a good temperature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is home-cooking style and really flavoursome. It is easy to book a table on the website. They also have occasional events which are very popular."

"First the positives. The restaurant is really nicely set out, the decor 's good, the music was good and it was dog friendly always nice to see a dog in a bar/restaurant. However. They have managed to invent a non existent problem by a cool menu free/human contact free ordering system via QR code and smart phone. It was a ridiculously complicated rigmarole involving setting up an account, adding a card etc etc. It wasn 't as if it speeded anything up or made it easier for the staff either. Our drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and I had to remind them of it before I got them we weren 't alone in that either; in fact the staff seemed to spend more time wandering aimlessly around with trays of drinks or food not knowing where to deliver them. This probably explained their overall surliness. Our food arrived on time, but was pretty underwhelming when it did. In summary nice place, decent atmosphere, ridiculous ordering system, poor service and very average food. I won 't be coming back."

"This was a celebratory dinner as my two grown up children both have their birthdays in December, and we were able to have a family meal together at this lovely restaurant. The weather was filthy. Dense fog on the drive their accompanied by what Peter Kay would call ‘that fine rain that soaks you through’. Mercifully on this evening before Christmas Eve there was no other traffic on the narrow lanes that form the way there. Once inside, there is a warm welcoming glow and friendly greetings. We had a cosy table for 5 in an alcove in the main bar. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy, but there was a gentle buzz to the atmosphere. Service was prompt, but they ran out of alcohol free beer after the first one. Bit short sighted that, in the run up to Christmas, and given the location of the pub most patrons will need to get there by car. To the food, the starters seemed to be universally well received by all of us. Mine was superb, and the roast cauliflower and cauliflower purée to accompany perfectly prepared scallops was judged just right. There was a lot going on with the garnish too, but everything was done with a light touch. Two of our number opted for the ‘Christmas lunch’ and the feedback, it was ok but not exceptional. The turkey was dry, and the roast potatoes tasted like they had been hanging around for a while. This is not unusual for pub grub, but the Trimble Inn bills itself on a higher plane that that, with prices to match, so must go into the category of ‘could do better’. I opted for the steak, which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by the reliable fare of fries, mushroom, tomato and onion rings. It was very tasty, but didn’t justify a price of £33 for a 7oz steak. It was very good, but £25 would have been a more appropriate price for food like this. The service was excellent, and we even had a wireless buzzer on the table which enabled us to call for the waiting team, and the bill when we were ready. So all in all it had been a good evening, we left happy, but with slight mixed feelings about the quality of some of the food. All credit to the restaurant for having a full vegetarian menu, and the opportunity to mix and match between this and the main one. None of us is a vegetarian but it is good to have the choice when a Christmas meat-fest is in prospect."

"Decent independent Italian Italian American restaurant in the centre of knaresborough, excellent pizzas, pasta and burgers all of which can be requested to be gluten free. "I decided to make a reservation at this restaurant after reading the reviews. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I have to give a special mention to Patrick, our waiter, who was outstanding. Although the prices for starters were a bit higher than what we usually pay, the quality of the food justified it. The manager was very polite and accommodating to some dietary restrictions without any issues. Overall, it was an exceptionally good dining experience."
