"I went to this restaurant like I go to a museum with the interest of discovering a foreign world. It's the world of my childhood which I'm glad burned. The large room is paneled with dark wood, there are geraniums on the terrace, and Aromat and liquid seasoning (not Maggi) are on the table as always. The vegetable rösti was good, although the portion was far too small. Whether frozen vegetables really have to be used in such museum style restaurants probably so. It doesn't matter, the hash browns and vegetables were tasty. The open beer was fresh and also tasted very good. A real ray of hope in this post war wasteland was the waiter, who although he spoke perfect Basel German and had a typically Swiss friendliness was recognizable as a secondo. The price was lower midrange and okay for once. The toilets worked."

Lieferdienst! Poulet-Cordon bleu mit Gemüse und Butternudeln statt Pommes. Pünktlich geliefert und sehr lecker. Kann ich empfehlen. Portionsgrösse auch top. Werde wieder bestellen. War noch nie im Resti und kann daher auch nichts zum Service und Lokas sagen.

While the restaurant staff was friendly enough, the salami pizza I ordered was rock hard and lacking with toppings. I could not recommend this restaurant to anybody, unless they were about to starve to death. Prices were also pretty average by Swiss Basel standards...

Da ungeplant mit meinem Truck im Hafen gestrandet bin, suchte ich mir ein Restaurant aus der Nähe aus und bestellte online, mit genauer Beschreibung des Trucks und nahe Firma, wo ich vor stand. Hat super geklappt und es wurde mir sogar Besteck mitgebracht, obwohl das nicht extra bestellt hatte. Essen ist top und große Portion. Weiß ich für das nächste Mal Bescheid, wenn ich hier nochmal stranden sollte. LG

We ate here near the Rhine one evening recently. We sat outside on the almost full terrasse with the locals. The beer was served fast and cold. The menu was very extensive but we chose from the board. The Sommer Fitnessteller (Summer Fitness plates) are to be recommended. We ordered one Cordonbleu with mushrooms and Raclette cheese filling, vegetables and pomme frites; one Fitness teller with Roast Beef andf a huge saald with Tartar sauce in a pot on the side. Four beers, 2 main courses with salad/vegetables and and all the trimmings cost less than Fr70:00, which is good for Basel. In conclusion, the service was fast, friendly and the food served fast and nicely prepared.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
