"We went to the Ratskeller for a family occasion with a party of six. The restaurant has a nice decoration and very traditional inside. Despite the reservation, there was not enough space to sit everyone on proper chairs. One person had to be seated on...kind of a sofa making her sit on a lower height compared to everybody else. However, the service was attentive and very helpful/friendly operating within these restrictions. All of us decided to order something from the specialties menu (a dedicated page in the menu). We assumed it would list dishes that are typical to the region and given that most of them started with Rat as the restaurant's name, we assumed that they would be good in preparing them. I went for their Ratsschüssel (probably council bowl would be a translation). It was actually a bowl. It was filled with a special type of pasta "Spätzle turkey breast, hollandaise sauce and cheese. The whole thing is then baked in the oven. Sadly, the Spätzle felt like frozen and the spices/herbs that you would expect from the local cuisine were absent. This dish was turned into a quite greasy bowl. However, I understand that everybody else was significantly more happy with their dishes. In particular, I got to taste some of the pork. This was actually nicely seasoned and well prepared. Remarkably, all dishes involved more or less hollandaise sauce and an additional bowl of hollandaise was served on a dedicated stove. I have never seen this before but it was quite unlucky as the hollandaise developed a skin and started to make a less and less happy impression. The service remained nice and attentive throughout the meal. In sum, the staff was helpful and the place has some atmosphere. However, my dish was not up to the proudly cherished tradition. But as mentioned, there are better choices on the menu."

"Von den Vorspeisen (hier ist der Klassiker Bruschetta allerdings ausgenommen -besseres Brot und Top-Olivenöl würde diese erheblich verbessern) über Pizza mit Büffelmozarella u.a. bis zu den Fleischspeisen ist die Küche auf einem sehr guten Niveau. Man muss allerdings etwas Zeit mitbringen und die offensichtliche Unbeholfenheit des Personals freundlich kommentieren. Die Weinauswahl ist gleichfalls verbesserungsbedürftig und trübt leider den sehr guten Essensgenuss. Hier scheint lediglich der niedrige Preis das alleinige Auswahlkriterium gewesen zu sein."

"Wir waren schon sehr oft im Athos essen.Die Bedienung ist freundlich und schnell. Die Auswahl beim Essen ist wirklich großzügig und man kann sich fast nie entscheiden. Aber egal was man isst, alles schmeckt lecker.Nur vorsicht: Wer am darauffolgenden Tag arbeiten muss, sollte lieber die Finger von den Knoblauchkartoffeln lassen. Ziemlich lecker und man riecht definitiv am kommenden Tag noch danach. :)Aber es gibt auch wirklich leckere und empfehlenswerte andere Beilagen, also nicht verzagen. Wir gehen auf jeden Fall immer wieder gerne hin."

"Were today a guest at Pizza Nudelhaus in Altenburg. We've been there for the first time, and it'll probably be the last time. Even if you have created some Italian flair, it's culinary far from it. The “classic” pizzas are simply fat and overloaded with cheese (at our child there was also an extremely long hair in the cheese. But even worse was my Carbonara, yes it is homemade sauce in the card but cream, cooking ham and then a fat layer of this bag cheese on top? No thanks and that's not even worth the name. Furthermore, we had to wait forever, a pizza that is properly prepared (pizzateig in the bale box etc. with appropriate oven, does not take 10 minutes. The 2nd star is for the overwhelmed operation (not because so much was going on, but you noticed that it somehow didn't run and because you get fed up (on the basis of the good reviews you seem to like it in Altenburg?! ."
