large steaks cooked on an open wood grill. fantastic quality and good service. we ordered the big steaks and the discs they all share. 3kgs high quality local meat. the lardo is a must!

However, overpriced. Food was solid, with the pasta excellent. Service was good even though it was a large group. However, for a fixed menu at that price it could do a lot better. And no bar.

This is my favorite restaurant in Pisa (where I live part of the week). The food, be this pasta, vegetable dishes or grilled meat (no fish), is excellent and extremely genuine, the staff is very kind and the owners, in particular, very friendly. I highly...recommend this place.

Re di Puglia is definitely one of my favorite restaurants around Pisa and Livorno, I also recommend to my guests and they all liked it. The place is welcoming, the owner a special person, the food really exceptional, I tried several dishes and I liked...them all: from the vegetarian starters to the ravioli, the grilled meat, coniglio a modo mio, and all cakes, the last time I tried a home made custard with fig's jam which was really fantastic.

Great ambiance. Sat at a table right next to the wood burning grill. A bit warm for me sitting that close. But, what a view of the action! What an experience to watch the firewood burn up top and the hot wood coals drop off...and roll under the grill grate to cook from beneath. The cured meats were excellent. And the 80 oz. steak was just delicious. I prefer my meat rare but, because of the thickness of it... there was something from everyone at the table for whichever temp you prefer your meat cooked. Also sampled the lamb chops. I'm not one for lamb but, this made a convert of me. And really nice wine list too! I would definitely return to this place the next time I'm in Pisa. Visualizza piatti

Sono arrivato tardi in serata (alle 10). Mi hanno accolto senza problemi. Il grande focolare nel mezzo della sala da pranzo e i piatti puliti degli altri clienti suggeriscono che le carni alla griglia siano eccellenti qui. A causa dell'orario tardivo, del mio livello di energia e della mancanza di contanti (non vengono accettate carte di credito), ho rinunciato alla griglia. Ho preso il fantastico, gustoso e legalmente famoso lardo di Collonata. Prendetelo e condividetelo con un amico quando viene, è troppo ricco per una sola persona. Il cameriere mi ha portato un piattino gratuito di ricotta fresca e saporita che era assolutamente perfetto con il lardo. Il testarolo pontremolese è un ottimo...

We've selected Re di Puglia because it'smember of the Slow Food Community and is recommended in the Osterie d'Italia guide. It's a farm house outside Pisa, next to the Pisa/NATO airport. You'll sit on a nice terrace where you can observe how the cooks are...preparing your meat (big barbeque). Yes, the arriving aircrafts can be a bit loud but the food is fore sure one of the better choices in the Tuscany. The chef of service is very friendly and even the menu is in Italian only he'll help you out in case you don't know the language. The Antipasti were very nice. First they bring you some home-made Ricotta with some grilled bread, then we had an exelent selction of mixed meat (ham) and cheese...

Loved this restaurant. It was in country, 4.5 k from our Golden Tulip Galilei hotel on Aurelia Sud. Opens at 8 pm (closed Monday-Tuesday). The large dining room had as its focal attraction a giant wood fire grill. The maestro/chef worked at his prep table...in plain sight and then threw the various items on the grill. Meat was the main focal point. We actually had a vegetarian antipasto, which was four kinds of appetizers: a mushroom tart; pumpkin with almonds; a quiche; and squash. All delicious. Skipped (first course and did second course, which is the meat. We had chicken, and a beef that was cut in thin slices, topped with watercress and pomegranate sauce. Delicious. The only suggestion...
