Popped in for a light lunch after visiting the local market. Flammkuchen is nicer than pizza so two of us enjoyed this dish one with tuna , the other with bacon, crème fraiche and onion. My wife opted for the pumpkin soup which was...scrummy! Great ambience but better we gather in the evening when it is heaving. Worth booking.

Vegan, vegetarian, fish, gluten free and meat dishes in a hugely interesting menu. Taste is great and very original African meals. Also some savoury tarts. There was a mistake in my meal which was sorted out very quickly by the friendly waitress and chef. The restaurant is huge so that even if you are a big group I think you don't need to worry too much! The food is like African style but there are also some flammkuchen. Some dishes were far too esotic for me but I chose...halloumi cheese with veggie and falafel and it was delicious. I tried one bite of flammkuche as well and was very good too! The staff is nice and I really had good time. I recommend it!

In a less frequented side street of Göttingen's city centre sits this lovely restaurant offering delicacies from Africa including rare varieties of meat like crocodile, zebra or ostrich. Unfortunately, not all different types of meat were available when we dined there but the choice of...dishes nevertheless was good. The interior has the feeling of being a little cool and reduced but it was an evening that definitely needs to be repeated. If you want something different, than try the Sambesi!

I came to Sambesi following tripadvisor reviews. The plates are big, but really nice. The combine a not very usual set of flavors worth trying. I wanted the springbok curry, but they dont have it. Instead the offer a deer, which is very good and...nicely cooked. I got also platains as a starter but it was a side more than an appetizer, a full plate. Service is very good and they have English menu. They also have cocktails, but I didn't try any this time. Definitively worth if you like try new flavors at a not expensive place. Enjoy. Great Place for a romantic dinner or dinner with friends. Came here for a birthday treat and chose a table outside. On a quiet street, perfect. For starters we ordered sweet potato, egg plant and falafel with dips and it was fantastic. Main dish...had chicken with peppers, number on the menu with sweet potato and it was delicious. Best was the service. The lady Tattiena was lovely and friendly and helpful, speaks English, and let us stay to finish our drinks way after closing time on a Sunday night. Lovely experience .. will be sure to come back. Highly recommend...

I came here with my dad for my birthday because we love to try new foods. The waiter recommended an African wine which was a little pricey for us a glass) but was very good. We started with the bacon wrapped goat cheese appetizer,...which was different than I pictured. It was delicious but It is definitely appetizer sized (only two wrapped cheeses) but came with a great assortment of vegetables and wonderful bread. My father got the safari option with a side of safranhirse (I don't know the name in English but it's sort of a saffron rice type side) and it was to die for.
