"We booked a table in advance due to the September holiday weekend, which was worth it as there was a 'fully booked ' sign when we arrived. Clearly a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Very warm welcome from the owners, excellent menu and service. We ordered some starters, homemade soup, mushrooms and bruschetta which were all very nice. Followed by lasagne for us and pizza for the kids, all stuffed but we managed to find some room for delicious homemade desserts. (Remember to BYOB, we forgot but were more than happy with the large soft drink menu!"

We visited on a Saturday evening to celebrate a family birthday. The food selection was excellent from the starters, through the mains and the desserts.

I turned up on my own and was so well looked after ! The food was delicious. Such a varied menu for such a gorgeous cosy place. Can’t wait to go back ! Next time with the family :

Very nice indeed, very friendly lady in charge and the food was pretty good. The starter was heavenly but the main a tiny bit stodgy. Overall a very nice evening and worth the long wait.

Excellent food (booked about 10 months ahead worth the wait) Great selection of food, shame it’s booked about 2 months ahead as we would have eaten there again. We even took away 3 extra deserts. Visualizza piatti

We were in Scotland for 3 weeks and hands down this was the BEST restaurant of our trip. Three people ran the place (I believe all family members) and did a fabulous job. They had lazagna on the menu and I thought 'lazagna on Arran?...

We had dinner at Stags to celebrate a family birthday. It was a lovely meal. The restaurant is very small and the owners have understandably decided in present circumstances to keep numbers on the lower side for the time being, so we didn't feel crowded...

Title says it all. Really high quality cooking! Our 4th visit and definitely the best. Faultless throughout with great service, lovely owners and smashing value. I could have eaten anything on the menu; highlight of which was the Italian bread butter pudding. If you skip this as an option you're mad. Visualizza piatti

Dining at the Stags Inn is one of the regular highlights of our annual Arran golfing holiday with a group of friends. The gorgeous freshly cooked food, the atmosphere, the exemplary service and attention to detail served up by Rino and Valerie and staff is five star. It's the best dining experience on the Island by far. Long may they continue.

A remote family restaurant with no licence (BYOB) that is well worth seeking out. Only a few tables and a small menu but everything is freshly cooked and really delicious. We enjoyed seafood, venison and lamb with lovely desserts and had a throughly good time. Service is friendly and efficient and the price is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
