"We come here often. But typically only when there is a pop-up as the service here just angers us and ruins our visit. The staff could not give less of a care, it is taking ‘relaxed atmosphere’ to a new low. They do not care to serve you or check in on you, and are actually quite blunt and rude when you do ask them to order food, or for some water, or a table etc etc. I can see other people are complaining about this too but no actions being taken by the anchor. We have been coming here for around 2 years now and I actually feel the service has declined. It hit an all time low on valentine’s day this year when an unfriendly waitress ruined our evening. Do better Anchor. Your food is typically great, you have a beautiful restaurant and the tent has great ambiance. Your staff are bringing you down."

forever, served for drinks and then again for eating. one of our main things did not arrive and when we mentioned it to the manager, he did not listen to us and corrected the situation not positiw. Visualizza piatti

very slow service. we were forgotten, after we had not brought menus, no beverage order was taken. then that was waiting for the food too long, and when it came, contained false objects. I'm going on because it's my local, but eating isn't very special.

Food was Ok let down by a very dry chicken which in fairness was not charged for. Service was very slow. Value even with deduction seems low for quite basic pub grub. Also wine very expansive for anything half decent, as much as a symptom of the times Left feeling underwhelmed by what we had for what we paid.

Very nice ambience eating outdoors under shelter and with good heaters, but waited a long time for food and it wasn’t all that good! The menu descriptions sounded nice, but the reality was food that wasn’t very tasty, was too bland and in some cases, like the kebab, there was so little salad that it shouldn’t have even been mentioned! I like trying The Anchor as it is a good convenient location. Service is OK but can often appear disorganised: my pint of 6X from the bar took AGES. The menu (on a Sunday at least) is limited (and unchanged from when I last went several weeks ago). Food was OK but well over £20 for a chicken burger and a pint (and a service charge) is on the steep side, even in these post-lockdown days

We visited after booking with OT. First, they told us they had to sit us outside, which we explicitly didn’t want based on the cold so they conceded to sit us at the bar. The food took 1:15 to arrive and it was cold, flavourless and overpriced. They didn’t make up for anything on the bill. We left dissatisfied and luckily we found another place (The Royal Oak) to treat ourselves to a nice dessert and good service. So so bad, I can’t recall my last experience this poor.

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
