"I was invited to this quaint English holiday home in Maldon, Essex, and I must say, Chef Rob Horton's cuisine has truly flourished and improved over the past two years. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the focus on locally sourced, organic ingredients showcases the best of British produce. It's definitely worth the trip, as the kitchen is backed by a talented chef. The wine selection offers a variety from both the Old and New Worlds, catering to all budgets and generally providing excellent value for money. You won't be disappointed!"

"had an absolutely delicious vegan afternoon tea. large selection of loose leaf tea available and also an americano for coffee mackerel. several delicious sandwiches and cakes as well as the most delicious scorpions I've ever had! one of the best vegan tees round and at a really reasonable price. service was also fantastic very attentive and offers cover when it is cold. I had to check that they do vegan afternoons before booking, as the website only allows them to book “signature afternoon tea”, they need to book this and then write vegan in the nutritional needs section. feel vegan is not a “diary requirement”."

"we visited with family. the restaurant was super helpful in explaining food options. there was something for all dietary requirements we had. food came timely, beautifully presented, fresh and very tasty! the range and variety is great, all the food had something unique about it which made the meal all the more interesting to share across us all. good value for money and highly recommended to visit! also to say a lovely atmosphere, welcoming, professional and just right service from the team, great for having a conversation while you eat, lovely colourful vibe, interesting to look at decor, cared for and super clean. could not fault Cafe Brazil :"

"I had an excellent experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, the wine was outstanding, and the coffee was quite nice. The surroundings were beautiful, and the service was fantastic. "We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment."
