"I was visiting the area and berthed my yacht in the nearby Bradwell marina. The first day I went to the Marina bar and was very disappointed with he lack of variety and they were completely out of haddock. The next day myself and two friends found this amazingly friendly pub, The Green Man. There was a far better menu, the food was great and very reasonably priced. My friend had the cheek to ask for some salt for his boat as he had ran out and the bar maid came back with a full container of it from the kitchen! Next time we stay at the marina we will definitely visit this wonderful pub again. Steve, Frank and Jim from South Woodham Ferrers Yacht Club."

Beautiful old pub. The prices are quite high for a pub, but the quality is excellent and the service was speedy. Very friendly and helpful staff

Friendly staff, good pub grub with something for everyone on the menu. Obviously we couldn’t go into the pub other than to use the toilet but everywhere looked clean and tidy including the garden and huge marquee for outside dining.

Been for a meal twice on Saturday evenings with our friends. On both visits we really enjoyed the meal and the service. Very popular so gets quite busy so best to book. Good choices on menu reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back again.

We stayed in the twin room which was clean, cheap and perfectly acceptable. The bathroom and toilet is shared but wasn’t a problem as we were the only people staying. It would of been nice if there was a hairdryer in the room. Tea and coffee is supplied in the room. Sadly no breakfast. We ate in the bar and the food was tasty and plentiful with lots of menu choices. The pub has a large well kept garden and ample parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Visualizza piatti

Lovely old pub, friendly staff. Nice area and garden. The portions are huge which I personally find quite off putting but some May like to get their moneys worth. The pie was nice enough flavour wise but the pastry was a little thick for me. Would have preferred sauces in bottles or dishes rather then the annoying sachets that you can’t ever open. Would go back if in the area and try a less filling dish, especially in the winter to see the fire going in the huge fireplace

Michael and Lorraine looked after us splendidly on our visits for dinner. The welcome is exceptional and we were given the refectory table by the fire on the drizzly night. As we were on a sailing trip stopping off at Bradwell this was even more welcome. Michael is an excellent chef providing a good range of well cooked food. Michel and Lorraine went out of their way to persuade the local fisherman to catch skate wings for us. It is a delight to have found such an excellent pub with great hospitality and superb food. Would highly recommend a visit.

"We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment."
