"I used to go here with my friends often. I went for the hundredth time, I ordered the chicken katsu, it was good. My friend ordered the chilli chicken. She ate a piece and then asked me to smell it. Saying it was off would be an understatement. It smelled rank. I can't describe with words, I literally gagged. If it was a mistake I could understand, but uncooked gone off chicken smells worse than cooked gone off chicken. If it smelled that bad cooked, how could they possibly not notice when it was raw. It was probably slimier than Ted Cruz. Plus they put it in the spiciest dish they have, which makes my believe even more they knew it was bad but was hoping the spices would cover it up. Disgraceful. They are cheeky but not in a Nando's way, in a add crushed glass to coke to make more profit way. They need to work on themselves."

The chicken was undercooked, and now I am suffering from salmonella. My stomach feels terrible, like a war zone. Not worth the risk at all.

Our first visit to The Joa for lunch. We got to sample the dishes we ordered and had an amazing lunch. Excellent food and a fantastic welcome from the owners. Thank you

I received rude and slow service at this restaurant and I will not be returning. I decided to leave after paying for my food and before it arrived due to the disrespectful way I was treated.

I've had vegetarian food from here a few times and it's been fine. On Monday my son was with me and had a chicken dish. He now has severe food poisoning from this. I've looked JOA's food hygiene rating up today and it has gone down to a 1 recently which means Major Improvement Necessary according to the government for hygiene. This restaurant needs to improve its hygiene standards straight away to avoid more people becoming ill.

Ideal place to stop when a shopping in Kingston. Excellent value too and spotlessly clean interior. It’s basic but to me at £6.50 for spicy chicken with rice and a Diet Coke it’s a great choice avoiding the madness of yo sushi and Wagamama where there is always a queue. This is my to go place when I’m hungry and don’t want a fussy meal. I see it has reopened recently and I wish this family run establishment all the best. It is always nice to support an independent business as opposed to a huge chain.
