The Lounge And At Marwell

Comfortable and quiet, the lounge and bar is a good respite from the bustle and excitement of the Zoo. A wide range of drinks and snacks coupled with polite and competent staff make this an excellent place in which to recover !!

The dining experience at this restaurant was exceptional and delicious. The chef who prepares the food for the restaurant ensures that it is consistently excellent, and at a more affordable price. I would definitely dine here again.

I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. I decided to treat my friends for an afternoon birthday celebration, but we were quite shocked by the limited options available. Amazing food. The best dinner I've ever eaten. The staff in the dining room were so helpful, accommodating and generally lovely. I had my 9 month daughter with me and it was so friendly and she was fully included in our dining experience. Service was...quick and efficient but never rushed. I can't recommend them enough.

We had a wonderful evening meal here on Friday night. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Staff were awesome and we felt very well looked after. Food was excellently presented and delicious! After a somewhat of a disaster visiting the Marwell Zoo Hotel, we decided to move to the artisan restaurant to reduce the noise levels from the wedding. When the menu arrived we were rather surprised to see the tantalizing flavours described in the menu, the...service was personal, welcoming and fun. I ordered a cote du rhone which was unfortunately was out of stock, and was left with limited choices. It is clear the chef has a flair for creativity, and superior delivery of the food. My wife booked afternoon tea at the Marwell hotel as we were in the area. The restaurant needs updating and my wife spotted that the curtain was coming off its rail. There was only one other couple in the restaurant also having the tea, so...not much of an atmosphere. We had to wait to go in the restaurant even though we had booked a specific time as one table was being used to sort something for a wedding that was being held later. Service was slow and the afternoon tea was disappointing. You get 3 finger sandwiches which were really small and slightly dry. We had ordered the champagne tea and our waitress only realised when I asked her to check our booking. The scones were not great either...

We were staying at the hotel and were short on time, so we had to eat at this restaurant, but we regretted it. The service, food, and value for money were all subpar, prompting me to write this review four months later. To start, the restaurant was not busy, yet our drinks were forgotten and only served after we reminded the staff. The waiter who took our order got it wrong and did not seem apologetic. The food was overpriced, with the £15 veggie burger being a disappointment and the £7 children's pasta served in a sauce that tasted like tomato soup on fusilli noodles. Popped to Marwell Hotel for a last minute romantic getaway to visit the zoo and ate breakfast and evening meal at the lounge. Was a quiet Sunday evening and only one waiter was serving with another behind the bar, he was incredibly friendly and welcoming...and went above and beyond to create a great atmosphere, taking photos for us as we were clearly on a romantic break and taking the time to chat and joke just enough and leaving us alone when appropriate.
