"We had a great time and stayed over in the hotel... A little mid week treat, the staff where very friendly and welcoming. They accommodated our two dogs that semi took over the pub and made a wonderful gin martini and gave a glass of bubbles to my wife (on the house) for her birthday. Its a super place, super location, super friendly and you feel part of the furniture as soon as you walk in... a place you can loose many hours sipping your martini (or at least i did). The only thing to not and why this hasn't got a full 5 stars is the vegi food options are limited we had to send back the food my wife order and they kindly took it off the bill, but good vegi options aren't hard and there should be a greater selection. Other than that you'll love your stay."

"Really nice little village pub! Quite a hectic atmosphere which we actually really enjoyed, was lovely being around lots of people having a good time. The food was really fantastic, I had a surprisingly light and flavourful rack of ribs with lovely Slaw and chips. My partner had a chicken and brie burger which she enjoyed but I think we both would have quite liked some greenery somewhere on the plate. Completely understand if they forgot however as it was very busy. Overall a good experience!"

"not locally to witney we were not aware of the hand and the shears until it was recommended to us for lunch when we were in the opposite on a cold winter day. quiet there, half this afternoon, and they placed us through the log burner who kept us very tortured. I had chicken and leckagepis and my wife had a sausage sandwich so that she would also have a place for apron pain and pumpkin. everything was really skurril, including the chips that were about the best we ever had. the torte was homemade and very fleshy, the brot of the sandwiches of my wife was also homemade and surprisingly very light. may they be back in the opposite, so soon they want to fall into dinner, we discover lobster on the menu can not wait. ps the sausage sandwich was actually quite filling out so I had to help my wife with the apple crumb, also quite fab."

"Went one evening with family for a sit down meal , got greeted by 3 member of staff at the door , one whom was ready to seat us , one member of staff or glared at us disgustingly. Lived in this village for over 50 years and never got treated and looked down upon... probably not as upper class at they wanted, but they shouldn't be too fussy after only having one table sat down! After asking the guy if he was feeling OK due to his glares,words and manners we left and ate at ready steady spice in the village. Must yummiest food and even though we spent a lot was still cheaper than here, whom staff and mannerisms were delightful! Would never come back here, think management unless they were need to reconsider there customer skills- vile attitude"

"Nice decor and location. The pub was quiet for a Sunday. The service was very average and no smiles for example we complimented the belly pork to be told “that’s nice glad you thought it was ok” where’s the enthusiasm? In terms of the food the roast dinners were great (they should be for the price!! , but the burger was stingy and dry, as well as poorly presented. The crumble was really awful why was the topping in large rock hard chunks and there was hardly any fruit? The icecream on the side was melting before it even arrived a really small portion all in for £8. Should have sent it back but didn’t want to make a fuss.The sticky toffee was ok. The children’s meals are £10 including icecream which was okay as they were quite big portions but not great for tiny ones on our table who only ate 1/3 of it. All in over £70 for a beer, a coke, a roast, a burger and 2 desserts (and 10% tip . Very disappointed considering it’s “Michelin recommended”"
