we had a fantastic birthday dinner for 9 on the terrace in the sunshine with a beautiful view over the river. eating was deliciously well maintained gluten-free and the staff was very attentive.

Ideal location for a family meet up. Booked in advance as preferred by the hotel, speedy response and booking. On the day the food was excellent. Despite also holding a wedding the staff were polite and helpful. Very good choice of food, well presented and...good sized helpings. All four meals and starters were excellent

very pleasant lunch. the menu offers all taste directions from the standard fish chips or steak up to utter, mönchen or trout. the service was attentive without being intrusive. it was also not too ice-cold; we could sit and enjoy our meal without another cover waiting for the table. all in all a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon.

The staff were very friendly but the service incredibly slow. Food is decent pub level but overpriced. Whilst a stunning view the restaurant itself is very basic and yet again it felt like a place catching up after COVID with diners paying over the odds....The beef and reef sharing platter had sides for 1 person definitely not enough for two and a tiny lobster. Four friends of mine were staying in the Hotel for three nights and they kindly invited me to join them for dinner. The restaurant is bleak and cold with bare floorboards and a complete lack of soft furnishings. I chose Sautéed Wild Mushrooms to start,...which were nice, although the plate was cold. Others had Soused Mackerel and Spiced Hummus. To follow I had Brixham Brill supposedly with Celeriac Purée, Seaweed and Dauphinoise Potatoes. It came with samphire, which is a lovely marsh vegetable but it is definitely not seaweed! Others had Pan-seared Duck Breast, Pan-fried Chicken Breast and Pan-fried Scallops with King Prawns. we have booked a table in their river view restaurant to celebrate a special day with special American friends, and I must say it is the worst culinary experience I have ever experienced, what it was made worse, that we could not go on...and somewhere else. there was an excess of personal, but no one seemed to be responsible, the wrong wein was brought when the right white wine arrived, if not even seen a cooler and was in an ice bucket with three cubes was so extremely warm, a member of the kitchen man went to our table and shook “Ohi” along the length of the restaurant to keep the attention of a worker, then no fingering we had the choice to ruin our special day by standing up and going or...

We arrived for dinner around 8pm, and were surprised when our starters arrived before our drinks. We had only ordered bottles of coke and tap water, so it was particularly frustrating that it took approximately 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive. In the end, I had to go to the bar myself to get them. During our meal, we noticed that the couple next to us received their mains before their wine or any drinks at all. Although the manager attempted to apologize, it felt insincere as he rambled through the apology without making eye contact.
