"Absolutely diabolical! 1hr wait for a table (as apparently they were full) then 1hr 20 wait on food for food that was poorly reheated. The chef needs to learn where the salt is kept. Pork was tough, roast potatoes had been reheated and fried, veg was overboiled, Yorkshire pudding was stale and over reheated. There was 5 tables total during our service and 12 tables total for the day not sure how his service and food would warrant a 1hr 20 minute wait. Not one check on the table, whilst waiting and during the meal, had to ask for the ETA, was told 5 minutes and it was a further 25 minutes. Only put 1 star because you can’t put 0. Will not be coming back, will not be recommending."

Disgusting attitude of staff, trying to charge twice for food and drinks when it was pay on order, I would not recommend attending this venue.

We booked a fish and chips lunch for 18 people and it was absolutely fantastic. They must have enormous fish down there in Devon. Everything was cooked and presented well. Visualizza piatti

There was no one in there on a Saturday lunchtime when it would have been heaving when Donna and Mark were there. Food was poor, service ****, not going to last long. Shame another beautiful old country pub will be gone.

Such lovely staff very welcoming. We went for Sunday lunch. Amazing! Meat was lovely, loads of veg, gravy so tasty. Wanted a sweet but couldn't manage it! We will be back. Also a little and big paddling pool out the back. Will be taking my grandkids. work in progress but looks inviting)

We arrived on a Tuesday after 2pm. The pub doesn't generally serve food on Tuesdays, but their kitchen had been open for a wake. The landlady kindly offered us a few of the simpler items from the menu, and we both chose lasagna, which turned out to be very nice. Good food and exceptional service. We'll be back. Worst experience and food ever!! no welcome on arrival, menu,s eventually given, then taken away by bar lady , who seemed very unsure of what she was doing!! Very unptoffesional welcome and service, we would of walked out and found somewhere else, but kids hungry and weather awful, to look around for somewhere else.

The Thirsty Farmer has always been an excellent venue, but one which is currently going through a change of ownership. Unfortunately, the disruption is showing itself in average food, inattentive bar service, a visibly grubby interior and surprisingly poorly maintained outdoor spaces. I think it has a two month window to raise its game or the clientele that travelled some distance to eat there will simply go somewhere else.

"We had two dinners and breakfast from this restaurant because we stayed in the Home Farm Hotel. We wanted to have the dinner and breakfast during our stay, but had to cancel our plans due to VERY POOR customer service received from Richard and also...because of his wife's cooking due to overcooked and burned full cook breakfast we received from the restaurant. Day 1, Richard introduced his wife to us, but she totally ignored us and in addition, she did not even bother to acknowledged and smiled with us. She seems to be very upset or very distance from everything or stressed/fed up about something at the time. Not sure this was due to over working… Day 1, Richard requested us to come down stairs for the dinner at 18:00, but instead of taking us to the restaurant for dinner, he tried his best to hard sell the alcohols he had in the bar to us and also to all the other guests. This happened even after we told him several times that we only want the meal and no alcohol from his bar. After about two hours, I had to tell him that I’m a diabetic and heart patient therefore I do really want to eat the meal and have a rest. He gave us the menu and I asked for lamb which was on the menu and he went crazy and said to us that they do not provide English food in this restaurant. I showed him what was on the menu, but he did not even apologise to us. He said lamb run out and asked us to select something else from the menu, again we selected duck, but that was run out as well!!! By then, Richard was sarcastic and rude to us as well as to other guests… In the end, we asked what we can have for our dinner. He almost shouted at us saying he and his wife only there to run the hotel without any staff therefore, we have to eat whatever his wife can cook!!! Finally, at about 21:00, we managed to have our dinner and I asked Richard to cancel our breakfast and dinner booking for the rest of the days however, he said we have to take the breakfast for next day because it was too late to cancel it. Next morning (Day 2), we were near the restaurant since 08:00 as Richard requested but as usual, past 09:00 we received burnt and overcooked full breakfast for two of us. They had a very large menu but it seems like most of the food either his wife did not know how to cook or had run out. Richard charged full price for our meals, BUT he FORGOT to provide the good quality food and services to the customers…"
