They did NOT have our reservation done on line via Open Table. Fortunately there was a table available.

Food was good but location of tables was next to the kitchen which was not ideal. Service was ok but a bit sporadic.

This was not our first visit, but this time the lamb Sunday lunch was chewy, could not cut it with knife, such a shame.

What we did really enjoy was the size of the table for 2 it was intimate but no too cramped which is not often found in other places. Food v good and we took the advice for the recommended wine.

Neither the gammon steak nor fish pie were as good as other dishes we have had there in the last year, while the venue had no record of my Open Table booking even though I had confirmation on my phone.

The vegan menu at this restaurant is excellent, with four options available for starters, mains, and desserts. The flavors are beautiful and the portion sizes are generous. We will definitely be returning.

We had an excellent evening. Great gastro pub food, everything was homemade and delicious. Lovely atmosphere, nice buzz and tables are well positioned, so not too crowded. Faultless. We'll definitely be back!

I need to start this by saying that we have been here a handful of times before and have never been disappointed. However for some reason today our experience was very different. The food itself was good and we have no complaints the service on the other hand was poor. We were regularly ignored, we had to get our own milk for coffee ordered and when we queried why only half of our dessert order had been received no explanation was given and no apology offered. Whilst some of the issues can usually be put down to a busy service the restaurant itself when we visited was only half full and there were plenty of staff around. When we raised the issue at the end they seemed to fall upon deaf ears...

The booking system is terrible. Despite confirming my booking online and receiving an email confirmation, we were greeted with blank stares on arrival and told that they had no record of our booking, finally discovering that they had us booked in for 15.15 instead of 13.15, as per the confirmation email. Barely an apology was forthcoming and we were crammed into a tiny corner before finally being reseated. Our party included my 92 year old, diabetic Mother whose birthday it was. The standard of the food at the Wheatley is still excellent but something has gone badly wrong with the service our experience last time we visited, several weeks ago, was equally chaotic. This does need addressing a...
