"We were shown to our table and drinks were ordered and brought to us. Our order for main course was taken about five minutes later. All good so far. Some 50 minutes later we hadn’t received our food and I ask a member of staff whether we’d been forgotten. Then told that order was being plated up. Food arrived with staff apologies. Lamb roast was nice but veg a little undercooked for our liking as usual at most restaurants it seems. Beef was cooked to be medium-medium rare. Not to everyone’s liking especially the young ones. We ordered desserts and they were very good. The waitress told us at payment that the dessert was complimentary for the inconvenience of the long wait. Fair enough and thank you. Doesn’t take away from the fact we appeared to be forgotten. Not likely to return too soon. Sorry."

I'm not sure what happened to the taste and quality of the food, it's almost as if it were just another place to eat. it used to be pleasant and will probably not go again. as a family we tried a few times and it has not improved

a beautiful restaurant that we prepared a few years ago there very well, so it has very special memories! varied sitting opportunities, so it is perfect for couples, small and large groups. good menu and very helpful staff to ask for food. allergies.

I had made a booking for a table on October 20th, this was confirmed by email and a reminder appeared later. at the arrival in windhover there was no trace of my booking. no real problem, as there was a lot of space, but still irritating, as I had made the booking. the food was good and fulfilled our expectations.

Mediocre food at best, we ordered the Sunday beef roast, the beef was fatty and there was not much of it, the roast potatoes were soggy as was the Yorkshire pudding and the cauliflower cheese was watery plus the carrots were so over cooked as to be like a paste when you tried to cut them. All in all there was obviously no love wasted on the food which was a pity given the service was good as was the atmosphere.

A really nice place with a nice buzz about it. The food was a real disappointment with my partners coming out stone cold, and my steak blue' rather than medium rare as ordered. We waited aroun 20 minutes for a replacement beef borgignon, but there was no offer to redo my steak, whuch i didn't eat. our waitress was fantastic, but seemed to be fighting off complaints from several tables, and offeing refunds. But not to us.

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
