"Had a lovely afternoon tea for my mothers 80th birthday on 01 July, just how afternoon tea should be, pristine white table clothes, sparkling glasses, real tea and coffee pots, sandwiches with no crusts, and a excellent selection of cakes along with the obligatory scones with an assortment of jam and clotted cream, the service was excellent. Mum had a lovely time and has since commented on it all being perfect.... And that's all that matters to me. So a big thank you to the staff at Softleys for helping make her day....."

"We visited the Red Lion while doing a walk from Sutton Wharf. On walking in, it reminded me of a pub I might have been taken into as a kid in the 1990s, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered a very good pint of Wainwright's, and took a menu to the beer garden: a real sun trap!! The menu has a lot of choice, but mainly pub classics. I went for the ham, egg and chips...and it was exactly what I hoped for, and more! The ham was top quality...but the chips amazing! Proper home made fried chips, some of the best I've ever had. Always good when you do a new walk, and you come across a gem like this!"

"I genuinely had an amazing experience here! The service was phenomenal, even when my group wanted to change seating areas and they were still so busy! But they got us sorted right away and were so genuine with their interactions with us and others around. The atmosphere was also beautiful. I’m not from here but it’s amazing to see how old things are and well maintained. The people in this place were very lovely. Some even sharing a word or two. Everybody seemed so lovely and kept the atmosphere of the restaurant very homey. And my god the food.. I know I went when I was hungry but I still reckon this was some real good food! I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, some cheesy garlic bread and the sticky toffee pudding. And the portions are good sizes, the food tastes great. I honestly highly recommend this place. It was third time lucky for me and my friends. The vibes of the place just made it such a beautiful place to come to for a meal. The dining setting (separate from the bar area) would be perfect for an evening date."

"That sounds a bit extreme, but the first instance was for a business meeting, then a birthday party, another business meeting and finally just some lunch with friends.I’ll group my review into one as it’s easier that way.Service was hit and miss the last time I visited. We practically had to call the waiters to come and take our orders. After that it was absolutely fine but we would advise the staff to pay further attention to the customers who have their heads up and are trying to get some attention…Food wise, everything was epic as usual, so I sure will be returning."
