Il miglior maccheroni era in italiano. Il proprietario non parla inglese ma non può essere confuso. Non mi sono mai sentito più a casa che in questo ristorante.

We have been very happy with the hospitality, simplicity and typical Tuscan food... do not miss the Pici all'aglione a local specialty cooked to perfection! A juicy thick spaghetto in a light garlic sauce which will light your meal)

A lovely Taverna in a great position, looking over a square in the centre of the village. Home made pasta, traditional recipes and excellent wine combined with great value for money. The owner of the restaurant was very warm, friendly and chatty. I would definitely go back again if I found myself in this area again. Visualizza piatti

The Restaurant was one of our highlights during our Toscana trip. The Chef of the restaurant consult the guests in detail and his proposals went into fantastic meals. We decided for a Florentine Steak with vegetables and white beans. Was really Great !! If you are in the region you should use the case to visit this Restaurant.

Il cibo è tradizionale della Val d'Orcia, una regione mozzafiato in Toscana. Inoltre, il cibo è semplicemente eccellente! Bisogna assolutamente venire a mangiare qui. L'unica cosa è che il ristorante è gestito da una coppia che non potrebbe essere più diversa nell'impressione che mi hanno lasciato. L'uomo parla molto e sembra essere un po' autoritario. La donna è silenziosa, sembra quasi depressa, ma è molto gentile. Non lasciatevi scoraggiare da questo. Alla fine, saranno entrambi amichevoli. Il cibo ne vale la pena. Il villaggio è assolutamente bellissimo.

A tiny hidden gem, as others have noted: the owner is a great character, wonderful host, and the menu has enough variety to please anyone. The food is very good we loved the sliced steak with balsamic vinegar (really delicious even if it sounds odd) and the thick tomato soup, Papa al pomodoro, which was yummy even on a hot day. The grilled vegetables were marvelous. The shady terrace is cool and small enough to be cosy you might talk to other guests, or might not. The granita with mint and lime is an excellent refreshing dessert. Portions are very big you can share almost any dish. Their own wine was very nice and reasonably priced. Visualizza piatti

Questa è stata la scoperta più incantevole di tutto il nostro viaggio in Toscana. Abbiamo mantenuto le cose semplici dato che stavamo per intraprendere un'escursione, ma la pasta al pomodoro che abbiamo mangiato era semplicemente sublime (e super fresca). Abbiamo anche assaggiato la torta appena fatta per dessert, insieme a un vino e un caffè deliziosi. L'uomo che gestisce questo posto è super gentile e accogliente e ha fatto del suo meglio per insegnarci un po' di italiano in più (mio marito se la cava abbastanza bene e sta ancora imparando) e ci ha insegnato i modi migliori per preparare una torta! Questo ristorante a conduzione familiare nel tranquillo villaggio di Castiglione d'Orcia è il luogo dell'eccellenza culinaria. Il simpatico chef (un maestro della preparazione del cibo) produce piatti come un artista. La combinazione di sapori, profumi, consistenze e presentazione visiva deliziano i sensi dal primo all'ultimo boccone. Se sei come me, un americano viziato abituato a grandi quantità di cibo medio, dimenticate tutto questo quando siete qui. La quantità è adeguata e la qualità non può essere superata. Questo è stato il nostro secondo pasto qui e non vediamo l'ora di gustarne altri prima di partire. Lo chef ama i bambini e il suo unico desiderio sembra essere la vostra soddisfazi...

We'd been up to the Rocca Tentennano (reviewed separately) and then took a stroll around Castiglione d'Orcia old town, perhaps often bypassed but a very pretty village worth a look, we were in search of lunch and happened across Il Cassero. One other family were in the restaurant so not very busy, we were greeted by the owner and between my broken Italian and his sparse English we got by. He suggested a table by the very welcome fan as it was a rather warm day. So we settled down to order a bruschetta and a plate of mixed meats, cheese and melon.
