We went for the 10 course taster menu it was fautless the slow poached duck egg was especially divine. Smallmounds yielded exquisite flavours lavender and strawberries.

What a wonderful experience. Gourmet food of the highest standard from the 6 taste menu. The waiters gave good information about each course. The taste and taste were as enthusiastic as the delicious wine.

While not the most affordable or generous portioned meal, the quality of the food at this restaurant is top-notch and the service is attentive, discreet, and highly efficient. This was our third time dining here and the experience has been consistently excellent.

I booked this restaurant as part of a weekend break for my wife's 40th and can confirm the evening at Van Zella was the highlight superb food that has the experts raving and when you sample it you will understand why. It is easy to understand how the Good Food Guide has given it restaurant of the year, we will be back.

We made a reservation for my husband's birthday at Van Zellar online. We have dined at a few Michelin-starred restaurants and this place definitely ranks among the best. We opted for the tasting menu and each course was outstanding. The staff was friendly and not pretentious, which was a refreshing change. We had the 6 course Taster Menu. The quality of the flavours , ingredients and presentation was top class. The presentation and originality of each course was outstanding. In particular the Duck and Foie Gras was bursting with flavour, as was the Salmon and Bacon Jam (yes it worked wonderfully). Everything from the home-made breads, the amuse-bouche, through to the desserts was of the highest order. This was on par with the Michelin Starred restaurants that we have tried over the years. (but with a more relaxed atmosphere)

This was my fourth visit to Van Zellers and im pleased to say it was just as fantastic this time as the previous visits. Having booked on the 7 course taster menu for 35 pounds promotion, we were treated to 7 courses of exquisitely presented, perfectly cooked, seasonal food that matches up to most of the michelin starred restaurants i have visited. Service was efficient, low key , yet friendly. Unfortunately it was quite quiet on the Thurs lunctime we visited but that is to be expected. For the price tag you wont get a better meal anywhere in Yorkshire.

We went to Van Zeller's for our 7 year wedding anniversary. At the time we had a 5 week old, so we called in advance to make sure that we could bring her with us. We went on a Tuesday Night so it was not very crowded, and they were kind to allow us to bring her as long as she stayed quiet. Our baby did a great job cried a few times and we took her oustide to calm her down but the staff were very understanding. Did the 10 course tasting menu, they allowed us to split a wine course between us. Food was amazing. Each course was well composed, flavourful and delicious. The wine pairing was really excellent.
