"This restaurant was suggested by the hotel I stayed at so I walked to it at 530pm. On opening the door the inside is dark leading into the restaurant with bar area at the far end. You could mistake it as being closed on first opening the door. The lady behind the bar did not speak English nor did I speak German. The fault is mine but we managed to overcome this by use of sign language and I was given a table with a menu in English. The menu offered all meat as Pork cuts, various fish and German dishes which would be wrong for me to try and pronounce as I would do them a dis-service. I had a pork steak, fried potatoes and boiled onions. This was accompanied by a nice sauce. Overall this was a substantive meal and of good quality. The beer was also very good and a local lager I would describe it as very wheaty in taste. The restaurant was filling up with a number of other people also from the hotel and others walking in off the street. They were all German speaking. Tables also had some reserved signs on them so this must be a busy place. The 2 staff were very attentive and helpful despite language issues. There were a number of items to view which showed history including a stain glass window. The cost of the meal including two beers was 18 euros and I was more than happy with that price and value."

We were a party of three people and each of us had a different meal. With non-alcoholic drinks it costed less than 45 euros for all of us. The restaurant offers good value for money and I would definitely eat here again.

We sat outside at the tables in the middle of the "square" between the two streets (much nicer than it sounds). My German wife said her schnitzel was excellent, my roast pork was just good. The beer was nice, the service very friendly. Prices reasonable. Solid German fare and recommended if you are looking for a casual meal.If you found this review helpful, I would appreciate your vote. We asked at the hotel for a recommendation to a "typical" German restaurant. This was the result. Pretty enough and the service was OK but the food varied between dreary and boring. Luckily we had some cash with us because MasterCard, Visa and Amex were all refused. The only card they accept is something called EC.They are going to have to do better than that I think, but I will not be returning.

My friend and I were staying in Gorlitz - in the old part - and found this place for a beer. We were greeted by a young lady who produced a couple of menus - we said that we only wanted a drink, and were deciding what to have. She very kindly produced 3 small glasses each of the beers we were interested in for us to taste, which was great. We decided on the local Pils, and drunk 13 X 0.30L of them.Service was very good, the bar/restaurant nice and warm and welcoming. We did not eat but the menu looked reasonable, and whilst we were their, locals came in to eat and drink. The beers cost 32Euros, and would return again.
