"gustative ballad and a real heartburn for a rather friendly estaminet. the frame is nice and the welcome one can cold....the inside smile probably basque ! But we came to eat so, no problems. And here's a treat for papillae. be it intakes, in quantity, but also well erect plates for a feast of eyes. for me, double fat and, for these ladies, bar. (the fish of course). colored plates, and garnished. And as I'm greedy, I also took pig's feet. service is efficient and, magisteral. the person being alone in the room is 10/10 for efficiency. And finally, with the backwards, I prefer a smiling but effective person during the whole meal so, bravo! and as we are nice customers, the boss offered us the digestive. the price of the wines is correct, and the dishes tested are fresh and tasted. so, for us it is tested and approved"

"Visiting Bayonne on a Monday evening at the end of March could have been difficult as lots of restaurants were closed! However we were not disappointed with Bistrot Itsaski. On walking in the buzzing atmosphere and attentive staff ensured a very warm welcome. We went straight to mains enticed by the entrecôte and were delighted. Perfectly cooked and enjoyed with a delicious bottle of red from the excellent wine list. Although replete we could not resist can we ever? the chocolate fondant and have to say it was superb and rates as one of the best ever fabulously gooey centre, rich, dark and yet light all in all a perfect meal and a bistro we would highly recommend and visit again."

"This is one of the best meals we ever had. I had squid to start, then followed by cod and then came the dessert my god what a dessert, 7 different types of pudding, all thought through ie sweet puddings with pots of stewed fruit, so as to taste all textures and flavours not too sweet and with some tartness. All beautifully presented. I also loved the surroundings, very understated. But I was truly in awe of the staff, just one cook and one waiter (perhaps there was a pot cleaner behind the scenes, but could not see one). And just these people managed the whole of the restaurant calmly, no dramatic histrionics a la Gordon R, just very professional and efficient. If you are going to Bayonne do not miss this jewel."

"I took on the menu at 25 euros the pot c was very good, when the terrine entered was good but not very copyy. In the desert I took some crumble that was hearty and very good. My wife took the fish of the day at the planecha, very good too. My daughter took the child's menu at 9 euros 50, the fish was very good it was regaled.Now the problem that forces me to put a way, my son took the child's menu with chopped steak, the meat had a very strong smell in the mouth and it was full of nerves impossible to chew it for my son, I warned the waiter he told me, I take the plate the chef will make a new one. nothing always deals with that smell with a lot of nerves, the quality of the meat was really not at the rendezvous, he ate only his fries and I paid the child menu full pot. Small advice you only need fish, especially no meat. The chief has to change a supplier."

"This Italian restaurant is near the water in the center of Bayonne. I ate outside with the good weather and ordered myself a Pasta and a Pichet of wine. Even there were a lot of people the service was fast and good. The pasta was fresh and it was a suggestion of the day. They could have given a bit more pasta for the price, but it was delicious."

"We booked dinner here on the basis it was the top rated restaurant open on a Sunday night. It is well located next to the old town on the riverbank and has outdoor seating overlooking the water (or at least the road next to the water). I had the duck, asked to be cooked so that it wasn’t **** though when it came it was still a bit ****, had they let it stand a bit longer it would have been fine. It was a very large duck breast and came with chips, nothing else! A bit of sauce or a vegetable might have been appropriate but alas nothing. At the end of the day it was fine, nothing great but nothing particularly bad if you forgive the blood. Price wasn’t horrendous but on the steep side for what it was."

"I had not been in this restaurant in many years. It has been remodeled and given a more modern decor (not necessarily my style I have to say). But the dining was superb as always!! We had the sardines salad and the foie gras as appetizers, both delicious. As entrees we ordered the lamb and the magret. Both incredible as well! The potatoes that came with my Magret were crispy and perfect. For the kids we ordered an entrecôte to share which was also perfect. For dessert we had the Tarte aux figues (I had it there once and had never tried something so crispy and delicious so I was happy to repeat) and the profiteroles which my children happily finished to the last bite. Service is efficient but not friendly or happy. Very french indeed... part of the experience I suppose. The atmosphere in this restaurant is not too relaxed, there were visitors of all ages mostly french (which is a good sign), and most people were nicely dressed. Regarding whether this is a children-friendly place, I would say not really. I only saw our two kids and another little girl. And the personnel didn't seem too interested or fond of them. So bring entertainment to keep them quiet if you're with little ones. We paid 140€ for two appetizers, three entrees, two desserts, one cheese plate,one aperitif, one Demi-bouteille of red wine and one small coffee. Not cheap but worth every bite!"

"We arrived at about 3:30 on a wet December afternoon without having booked. The crêperie was packed (mostly, I think, with locals but the helpful staff offered to book us a table for half an hour’s time. However, having negotiated my wheelchair bound mother to the door to have a quick look at the next door Cathedral while waiting, they found us a table for 3 straight away. The food is good, Breton crêpes and galettes (a bit odd in the Basque Country, but who cares? . A wide range of choices, and the ones we had were excellent. There is Basque cider as well as Breton. It obviously doesn’t pretend to be a super gourmet place, but the quality is high and the food was delicious. Presentation is good the galettes are left open so that one may see the toppings and choose how one wants to eat them. The staff, although busy, were extremely friendly and helpful, and it was all an extremely good experience. Highly recommended for a light( ish lunch in an excellent location in the City centre."

"En Vacances dans le sud ouest, entre amis avec 3 enfants de moins de 3 ans. Nous avons donc réservé.Très bon accueil par la "patronne" qui a su nous mettre à l'aise (pas toujours évident quand on arrive avec 3 poussettes en pleine saison!)La carte est variée et l'établissement propose un menu du jour et une carte. Les mets sont de qualité, servis chauds, et copieux.Nous avons tous pris un Parmentier de Canard (purée de carotte, poireaux...)Quelques vins à la carte (le petit moins car les choix sont limités) ; Le Vin était tout de même bon.Beaucoup de desserts faits maison.Le + pour les parents : menu enfant simple mais de qualité (jambon blanc à la coupe, coquillettes au beurre). Prix un peu élevé pour un menu enfant (8€) mais dans la moyenne en pleine saison.Globalement très satisfait de notre passage dans ce restau! Je recommande sans problème."

"The Homemade Fries sign brought us…. But watch out for the menu – you order a farmer thinking you’re getting the Crispy Chicken Burger…. and we bring you a chicken sandwich called….The farmer And the worst thing is that it's the fault of the customer who doesn't know the card and who should have clarified! So it's good But absolutely not commercial! Everyone will have their own opinion…."

"We came for lunch here and our first impression of the bright decor and comfortable chairs in the restaurant put us in the perfect mood for a relaxing meal. The menu is extensive and offered something for everyone in our group, including fussy teenagers. The food itself was delicious, the chef certainly shows her love of cooking in the dishes, and was enjoyed by all of us. The desserts in particular were outstanding. We had a very nice bottle of wine and to finish it off were pleasantly surprised by the great value of the whole meal. Service was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable especially when describing the local dishes which we were unfamiliar with. I can't wait to return and would highly recommend others to visit as it is located in a lovely part of the old town of Bayonne. Plenty of shops and small streets to browse around nearby."

"We arrived at our hotel around 9:30 and were told that not all restaurants would be open! This is France say no more! We found this nice little restaurant open and we're settled quickly into our seats. My wife was not too hungry and ordered a starter of grilled squid and a duck salad to follow. Both she said were delicious but the portions so large that either one would have been sufficient. I had lemon chicken which was very tasty. The bill was not too excessive and the food was just what we needed after a long drive from Portugal"
