"This was recommended by another pub as it was full, reading some of the reviews we almost gave it a miss but been a sunday we thought we would be lucky to get a table anywhere so went thought we would chance it, well I am so glad we did, firstly the service was fantastic, even though they were busy the managed to fit us in, the staff were so attentive and couldn't do enough for us, the place is spotless and as for the food, well it's good proper pub cooked food, the pie was huge and I had the pork that was cooked to perfection, sorry about the pie photo, by the time I remembered to take a photo my other half had already tucked in. If you are looking for a gastro pub then this isn't for you but if you are looking for good honest home cooked harty pub brub then this is defo the place for you. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the staff is friendly, but when we visited in the afternoon, there was only one other table occupied. We ordered the gammon steak and peppercorn chicken. The gammon steak was extremely salty, to the point where it seemed like it had been marinated solely in salt. The chips were also undercooked. The peppercorn chicken was decent, but when we mentioned the issue with the gammon steak to the waiter, he was dismissive and rude. When I asked to speak to the chef to try to rectify the situation, the waiter informed me that I would have to pay for a replacement steak.
